I just hope that they don't pull a FX-9590 for $900 nutty
in all seriousness, I wonder how many chips they sold at that price?
This is kind of why my hopes for zen are low. Recent history has shown, when the competition raises prices so will AMD.
They went nutty with the FX-9590
Even with shrinking market share all of AMD's top teir cards after the 290x have followed the pricing structure of the 780ti
The 295x2 went of the deep end chasing the titan Z
If zen is an 8c/16t that is in anyway competitive to the 6900K, then I fully expect it to carry a $1,000 price tag at launch.
IF that happens, what's Intel's motivation to drop it's prices? Nvidia only got more bold with it's pricing structure when AMD matched their pricing structure. My pessimist side says, "don't expect anything to change, even if Zen is performance competitive".

LGA1151 won't support 6 cores. The only way kabylake mainstream gets more cores is if Intel changes the socket.
