Mine just shipped

Can someone help clarify the PCI lane characteristics for me? Assuming a 40-lane CPU for my post.

Does this mean using u.2 or m.2 even with a single card in the first slot will kick said slot down to 8 lanes or is this only in a 4-way situation?

If a X4 or higher device is connected to the PCIEx4_1 slot, both front USB3_34 and back USB3.1_EC1_EA2 ports will be disabled.

Am I understanding this correctly in that if an x2 device is plugged into the x4 slot the front USB ports will be disabled? What are the implications of using an x1 card?

only if you use the u2, and M2 SSD and SLot 4 slot both with a GPU in slot 1. IF you just using one M2 or U2 and a one GPU, you get the full 16 @ 40 lanes:thumb: only if slot 4 is occupied with all the other items in do you get a kick down.

easiest solution is don't put anything in slot 4 if you don't have to. the x1 cards have their own slots

This is the best Build I ever had. you guys that are getting them won't be disappointed. smile.gif

Yeah it's a great board. I kinda miss my Rampage V Extreme already though; even though i haven't even sold it yet lol. Both Rampage V boards are fantastic, this one is just a bit more tweaked and more aesthetically beautiful. Great board, best i've ever seen.

Just a side note. Don't use the TPU voltage tweaker for the CPU in the AI Suite. if you try to tweak your voltages and offsets in there, Bios tries to compensate and give you momentary overvolt on the core. When I saw it spike to 1.5v on the core I rebooted , and did my voltage tweak within bios. then everything worked fine.. I believe one of My ROG colleague in the ROG forum Smoked his 6950x attempting to use the TPU voltage tweak in AI suite,. haven't confirmed yet, but after witnessing what it did to me. It's probable. thumb.gif So bottom line... Do all Voltage tweaks in Bios only for now.

tbh I'd avoid using any of the Asus software period. If it worked it'd be great but historically it's pretty poor with very slow updates. Asus ROG forums are full of threads outlining headaches.

Yeah i took one look at the TPU and said "nope...." Wouldn't touch auto-OC software with a 30 foot pole. On my Rampage IV Black Edition back a few years ago it took something like an absurd ~1.46v or so just to get 4.5ghz on my quad core i7 4820K lol! I could push it to 4.6ghz with ~1.25v manually too! ASUS' auto overclock ALWAYS has a nasty habit of over-estimating required boot voltage, and vcore in general.
