I used 8x4gb of RAM of the version listed on QVL instead of 8x8gb
Same everything other than size.

the 2800MHz RAM in QVL or?

CMD16GX4M4A2666C15 instead of CMD32GX4M4A2133C15 clocked down to 2133 MHz.

Runs on 4x dims at XMP, 2666 MHz and above without error.

Will not run with 8x2133MHz keeps looking up sometime reboots into repair mode.

looks ok with 4 dimms and runs a little cooler so not to bothered.

guess you are running with Haswell then? I only see the 2800MHz listed in Broadwell QVL

also, 8 sticks seems to be eating more bandwidth than 4 sticks on IMC even if both are in quad channel

this board is an e-ATX correct guys? Looking to switch things up/

No Braodwell its on the 2133MHz qvl list
Not worried about over clocking memory happy with 2133MHz or 2666MHz.
This is going to be video and graphics machine so I would prefer it to be stable.

the latest Broadwell memory QVL from https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-RAMPAGE-V-EDITION-10/HelpDesk_QVL/
only lists CMD16GX4M4A and CMD32GX4M4A in 2800 MHz list
you are probably running Haswell. the official Broadwell memory speed support is 2400MHz

I am running a i7 6800K Broadwell E chip.
Broadwell E has a configurable integrated memory controller which can adjust the base clock to 2133 Mhz or 2400 Mhz
The Asus rve10 by default has a spd of 2133MHz at 1.2v or the rated memory speed when using XMP.

not able to run 8 dimms could be lottery, but you gonna need really bad luck to have a Broadwell and board not able to run 4 dimms @ 2400MHz
