[PCPER] ROG ASUS RAMPAGE V Edition 10 - Page 46

Well I have to confirm that running 8 dimms is not easy

This is my little stand with box air cooler, 5820K CPU and two kits 4X4Gb Corsair LPX 3000C15 (i e 32Gb 8x4Gb total)

So I set Load Optimized Default settings and then set Overclock tuner as XMP

After that I am able to get into BIOS where I see it set as 3000 15-17-17-35 1.35V

But it doesnt even start to load Windows and just reboots in the loop. Maybe I have to increase some volateges manually?

Also I expect to get 6850K this week and then may compare how it's new memory controller runs it all rolleyes.gif

From previous discussions, I understood that ASUS advise that to run 8 high speed dimms, they need to be matched by manufacturer. In other words, we need to get a kit of 8 matched DDR4 modules.

With two separate kits, we'd need to fiddle with timings for each module. Possible, but as rioja reports, not always easy doh.gif

board and memory can be part of the variable. CPU will be the biggest headache even if you have perfect memory and board

Most likely I have to tune it all manually, at least I was able to load at 3100Mhz 17-22-22-40 1.35v using some preset OC profile

well, you are already OCing memory which was officially OCed. it's going to be some fun to get 8 dimms up and above 3333MHz

Try going to the bios and go to extreme tweaker Dram timing control.
Scroll to bottom and look for: MEMTEST, Attempt Fast Boot, Attempt Fast Cold Boot, MemTest on Fast Boot,

You want:
Memtest to be DISABLED
Attempt Fast Boot to be ENABLED
Attempt Fast Cold Boot to be ENABLED
Dram training to be IGNORED

From the rog forum it worked for me

according to ASUS L2 tech support. 8 dimms @2800MHz for 128GB is the max they support. they are not supporting anything higher
anyone able to push beyond 2800MHz with 8 dimms stable?

they should obviously consult with their marketing dept biggrin.gif

I've managed to setup 8 dimms at their rated 3000 15-17-17-35 but didn't stress it yet, planning to watercool cpu first this weekend

I'm positive that all the lazy rep did was lookup the same memory compatibility list that's available for anyone @Asus.com. They need to update that thing ASAP.

Hey guys, newb audio question here.
I just finished setting up the RE10 and got the audio from onboard sound to work but tried the external DAC for fun and no sound is coming out of it.
Other than plugging the 6pin power and usb 2.0 cables on the back of the DAC unit is there any other steps to do?
When I plug my headphone jack to the motherboard is works but DAC no sound.
Anyone here got the DAC to work?

NVM got it to work, don't ask me how....lol
