not sure why you conclude Win7 is no longer supported?

Also, not sure if you care but you'll be missing out on all the new Windows 10 exclusive titles. Specifically Xbox One games like Forza Horizon 3 and Gears 4.

doesn't matter how you put it, microsoft is still releasing frequent security fixes for win10. unplug yourself from internet if you really want that absolute security

titles I'm interested are also available on PS systems and many are PS exclusive, so win10 exclusive titles don't really matter to me

It's not how I put it. It's a fact. Never said it was perfect, just more secure. Window's 10 is more secure, supports DX12, has exclusive titles and just better overall. It's fine if you want to stick with an ancient OS. That's your business. I can tell you are one of those folks that will stick to an old OS until the end.

BTW, that article you posted was from August of last year...

do you mean Win10 is more secure when it shares the same security holes with Win7?

Just stop. You obviously don't care about Windows 10. I don't care what OS you use.

https://www.netmarketshare.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10&qpcustomd=0

Win10 is not even half of WIn7's market share after it's anniversary free upgrade ended. the old and unsupported WinXP is still at third place, holding more market share than Win8 and Win8.1 combined.

look at Apple. their latest OS has the highest market share among Apple's OS. why has Win10 failed to convert people from the older WinOS? is it no one cares about the exclusive title? is it no one care about the "more secure" (as you have claimed)? or is it something else that simply turns people off from upgrading?

there will always be reasons to upgrade to the latest and greatest. Win7 was fast at converting lots of people from older OS without the free upgrade when it was released. what's wrong when Win10 is struggling so hard?

to lure people from Win7, microsoft also decided not to allow DX12 on WIn7. that successfully converted gamers like you, but Win10 market share is still poor and that's fact
post #677 of 1089
I don't care about market share. I care about having the latest OS with the most support from MS and performance.

BTW, businesses/schools tend to not upgrade for a long while so I wouldn't look into market share much. Some older folks don't want to bother upgrading or don't know how as well.

Market share is more an indication of enterprise inertia, than anything else. Enterprise licensing agreements are beasts of things, add to that application compatibility and you can see why WinXP is still so highly represented.

A colleague of mine has been designing the migration process from XP for one of the biggest banks in Aus for the last ~3 years. They have hundreds of thousands of devices, all running XP, all with various in house built apps (smaller banks bought out whose systems were just integrated), it is a nightmare.

Meanwhile these days most of my clients are Gov, and due to their licensing deals (they get everything and anything from M$) I've been migrating almost everything to Win10. The anniversary update has made network logon times less than Win 7 in all the tests I've done.

well, if you look at the history. microsoft was so proud when they think they started a revolution going from Win7 to Win8 while dropping start menu and a couple other items...

microsoft also praised Win10 with the revival of Win7 spirits. with so much bloated content on Win10, the only reason I would think about upgrading to WIn10 is DX12. However, from my experience of Win7 SP1 forced me to do a clean reinstall on the night my big project due because I had let Win7 do auto update and it forced me to reboot or won't load critical files of my project , I don't trust Win10 with microsoft having power to dictate when to update and I can't do anything about it

microsoft had screwed up big a couple times, but now they are increasing the chance to screw you big time again and you can only cross your finger for it not to be at your critical time/moment

Are you software developer or something? How do you know Microsoft has screwed up. Your opinion is not the generally accepted one. Well let get back to the topic which is the R5E10.
