A colleague of mine has been designing the migration process from XP for one of the biggest banks in Aus for the last ~3 years. They have hundreds of thousands of devices, all running XP, all with various in house built apps (smaller banks bought out whose systems were just integrated), it is a nightmare.

Meanwhile these days most of my clients are Gov, and due to their licensing deals (they get everything and anything from M$) I've been migrating almost everything to Win10. The anniversary update has made network logon times less than Win 7 in all the tests I've done.

still comes back to the point I was trying to make. seems to be very hard to get people to move up from older WinOS, but it's not that hard for people to move up from older AppleOS

on smartphones, Android and iPhone typically support a couple OS upgrade per device, but Windows Phones don't enjoy similar upgrade capability. seems to be some flaws there

people also found out WIn10's free upgrade download numbers were exaggeratedly inflated on a couple instances

microsoft also praised Win10 with the revival of Win7 spirits. with so much bloated content on Win10, the only reason I would think about upgrading to WIn10 is DX12. However, from my experience of Win7 SP1 forced me to do a clean reinstall on the night my big project due because I had let Win7 do auto update and it forced me to reboot or won't load critical files of my project , I don't trust Win10 with microsoft having power to dictate when to update and I can't do anything about it

microsoft had screwed up big a couple times, but now they are increasing the chance to screw you big time again and you can only cross your finger for it not to be at your critical time/moment
Windows 10 has never restarted after an update on it's own. Can't speak for others but it's been very pleasant to work with and only getting better. Not saying it's perfect and I can't speak for other's. It's better than Window's 7 though.

because microsoft later released update to fix it assuming people could still boot. maybe you didn't hit the famous WIn7 SP1 dead lock at boot screen issue

sorry for being off topic for 2 pages...

let's get back to RVEX. mine is still back ordered and I'm still looking for the right RAM with the Air cooler I picked. it's hard to check RAM clearance when manufactures don't release their memory dimension

Win7 was good and smooth, that's why the dead lock caught me good at the very wrong time. I simply didn't expect that type of mega QA failure to slip through from microsoft

That's cool that you love Win 7 so much but it's time to get with the times and back on topic. thumb.gif

Hello, I have a question - I got my RVE10 a few days back, but seeing I have a Parvum case, and thus no 5,25" bays, is there ANY other way to use the included DAC? Or my ATH-M50x headset will have to settle for direct motherboard sound output?

Thank you

Scotty

I bet supercoolman is a Linux user upsidedwnsmiley.gif.

Why does this have to happen every time no matter the topic once Windows 10 get's brought up?
We don't care what OS you use, use whatever you want but shut up about it.

No more off topic now hopefully.
