[PCPER] ROG ASUS RAMPAGE V Edition 10 - Page 8

I'm guessing the RGB lighting can be disabled just like any other device that has it. Of course those that do are paying for a feature they don't want but c'mon people, this is a top-tier ROG board. The bang for the buck train doesn't stop anywhere near this neighborhood.

I purchased a Rampage V Extreme on 4-23-15 and due to life issues the board still sits BNIB

why should I sell my board (whether it be for a loss profit or break even) to get this new board?

I paid about 607$ for the board and a 16GB kit of 3k G.Skill DDR4 but want faster memory aswell

I'm kinda torn between the edition 10 and the strix. I thought the strix would be good despite the colored stickers that I would just remove. The strix boards m.2 slot location though kills it for me being between the second and third pcie slot or just being near potential hot gpu's. The rampage edition 10 LEDs are at least real on the heatsinks and you can turn them white or off. The m.2 slot if off on the right side near the sata ports away from gpu's. Then there's the signature series, but I'm not to sure about the white heatsinks on the signature series even though the deluxe 2 is around 100 cheaper and a nice board.

And I want faster memory and bigger size but I will not throw money for 12 months.
Look Skylake-EX... 6 memory slots from every side, that mean other kits... I will jump from 16GB to 48GB.
6x8GB kits will be minimal or 6x4GB kits. I will not pay for new Quad Channel kit when Six Channel will show up in 2017.

Strix is good motherboard and offer everything as Extreme for most people, but simple not leave such powerful impression as Rampage V Extreme and Rampage V 10th Edition. Boards for X chipsets were always nicer than for Z chipset. Nicer ASUS boards are Rampage III Extreme and Black Edition, Rampage IV Black, Rampage V Extreme and now this 10th Edition... except Maximus VIII Extreme, she is so nice board but overpriced and I would never pay so much for board where max 4 core Intel Core or 4 core Intel Xeon could fit.
In Rampage V Extreme you can install E5-2699 V3 if you find him for 1/3 or 1/4 price for 3-4 years and from that moment you have good working platform for any job. Anyway you don't need last generation every time, even companies don't use always last, change after 3-4 years.

If someone have money and want upgrade I would go on Rampage V 10th Edition. Many people didn't bought boards with USB 3.1 and want full black board, now is chance. I knew that ASUS will launch Black Edition of Rampage V and because of that I didn't pay attention to much on Godlike and other boards as OC Formula, etc... I suppose all of them are incredible boards but I love details and ASUS build hardware with finest details. People who use watercooling or AIO probably can't even notice difference between so good and expensive motherboards only some of them as me are more familiar and like more ASUS BIOS, themes and colors, and way you change settings. EVGA have excellent BIOS as well on new motherboards, you see everything on first page but I don't like because they always forgot to install some important features, OC Socket or similar. I don't know how they OC Cache Frequency and is it that possible I didn't found that setting looking in BIOS over net.
Motherboard is my favorite hardware. Off course I'm happiest when new graphic card arrive and performance increase are biggest, but I could spend hours looking good motherboards. Many people spend a lot less money on motherboard but I can't... I like motherboard with many LEDs on them in dark case, more than LED Fans or Strips or diodes, even don't need to be RGB, Only to shine at least 10 little LEDs.

Here is finest and nicest and best and most powerful X99 motherboard...
Rampage V Extreme was king 2 years, now it's time for NEW king...

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-RAMPAGE-V-EDITION-10/

Box and package are cool...But I hope ASUS will continue to offer ROG hardware in their famous heavy package for Formula and Extreme motherboards.
They didn't change from 2010 and don't need to change.

The worse moment is when you need to sell hardware because upgrade and you are emotionally connected with him.
Because I say to other people if they have chance to keep unique hardware as GTX980Ti Gold, this motherboard, ASUS ARES, etc...
Keep them as backup hardware if you need to test something...
Only fonts on port cover "Rampage..." should be silver same as "SupremeFX"

Vlada, that picture isn't for Skylake-E. It is from a prototype Intel Knights Landing (Xeon Phi) PCB. Don't believe everything people report.

Understanding everyone is entitled to their opinion I do get where your coming from. I feel as though it gives more options, and hits a bigger target audience with LEDs and black and touch of grey. Of course they can be turned off, and the board be for all intent and purpose the black edition. Also I can see the argument of paying for something I won't use but I kinda look at it like I'm paying for more options. To me the older rampage v extreme with the bright red and black was a little worse as far as aesthetics when designing a non red build. IMO msi god like gaming the bright red one is more cringey with gaming and God like in big letters. The carbon version isn't as bad color wise but still not as good as the edition 10. For those who do a lot of work sleeving cables, watercooling, ect having some accent light to highlight the hard work can look nice.

Yeah it is very subjective, I personally hate lights and colours of any kind in my system.

Years ago I was all for cable sleeving for example, these days I find it be a waste of time, effort and money.
The exact same thing applies to lighting, clear side panels, and colour coordinated builds.

Though I can still admire a nice custom loop, just not for the purposes of a display..
