Board posted fine, but still only shows 12GB and 3 DIMMs. When I change a setting in the BIOS, it refuses to boot and hangs at code "bd" which could mean anything really. CPU Z still shows 16GB and 4 DIMMs, however Task Manager only shows 12GB. Could my Trident Z be incompatible with the Edition 10? Here's the detailed specs of it:

I've never had such a strange issue with one of my builds before
Go into BIOS and look at which stick didn't post, then try to boot with only two sticks, one in position for booting with single stick, one which didn't post. When you'd have only 4GB RAM, switch the stick that didn't post with another, and try again. If both tests would fail and you would have only 4 GB, RMA the board. (Or you can live with three channel RAM, that works too when you need PC and can't do RMA without earning money for backup MB and CPU first.)

Expect you'd lower speed of your RAM by one notch. (2666 MHz might be fine during overclocking.) Big densities hate low latencies, but two sticks on one channel hate high speeds and compatibility. I'm currently using 4x4 GB which has identical normal speeds to XMP profiles, and thinking year two later there might be fast high density kits (on 1.2V). I had DDR3L aniversary edition, and from that time I say low voltage kits rules.

Think I found out the issue: I can rule out the board, I returned that once already, as well as the CPU. I did get a free upgrade to a 6800K though, which is nice. I found out that one of the sticks in my kit would not always POST. Sometimes it does many times in a row, other times it doesn't post at all. That's why memtest didn't pick up errors. I have identified the faulty stick (curiously enough it was the last stick in the series of serial numbers). I will RMA the ram, and also order another basic 2133 kit from the QVL so I can save myself all these hassles in the future. Many thanks to everyone who chimed in and tried to help rolleyes.gifthumb.gif

I see newegg removed the board from its website, I wonder why?

It's still for sale in Switzerland, although stock is an issue

Idk if there was this many issues with the board, i just looked over at the ROG forums and others (not sure how big of a sample size this is with the limited stock) to see how many complaints there were and stuff, it COULD have been halted for revisions...

My only hope is this board wasnt already discontinued for some reason being limited run (which was never mentioned) or prepping for the next new socket, or anything else.

I thought Asus always has supply problems in first two months after release.
