But here is something odd i'm seeing.

In the bios. In the GPU Post menu. It is showing my video card in the wrong slot. The card is in PCI 1/x16... but it shows it in 2 or sometimes 4 in the bios at x8.
GPU-Z in windows shows it correctly in 1 x16 gen 3.
It is really odd. (it just put the mobo in last night)

I looked and I have no problem, the graphics card is on slot 1 smile.gif

You kept the blocks I/O (in back), how did you do for "separate" blocks of the VRM ?

PS: I switched to bios 1002, with the 901 I had a lot of BSOD "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" to boot (I wonder if it is not related to Samsung SM961)
No problem with 1002

This thread shows how to remove the I/O shield. I'm going to be doing the same soon.

Hi guys,

I had my R5E10 running for a week now with Win10 AU.

Currently experiencing some issues:

1. 3T3R Wi-Fi doesn't work or can't connect to the internet. I am currently using my old USB Wi-Fi antenna and it works fine.
2. GPU-Z detects the PCI-E lanes as PCI-E 2.0 instead of PCI-E 3.0. I have a GTX1080 installed so I was expecting it to show 3.0 - Also shows PCI-E Gen2 in NVIDIA control panel.

Anyone experiencing or experienced the same issue?

Current BIOS is 901
Latest drivers from ASUS site downloaded and installed
NVIDIA driver 372.54

TIA!

There is generally an option in the BIOS in order to set the link speeds of the PCIE... at least... that's how it works for my Rampage IV Extreme.

Thanks for the reply Mahigan.

I already did enabled that link speed option in the BIOS. Initially since I have 2 1080s, I only enabled for the slots where they are installed. Out of frustration, I enabled them all, but no changes.

That is freaking weird because that's the usual fix.. you change the PCIe from AUTO to Gen3 and it works.

Unless GPU-Z is reading the link speed wrong...

EDIT: Do you have any other PCIe devices installed? Because in a simple dual graphics card configuration, you will get full speed x16/x16 PCI-E 3.0 transfer rates. When three graphics cards are installed, the first and second card will run at x16 2.0, while the thirds operates at x8 2.0 (x16/x16/x8). If you're planning on making full use of the 4-Way SLI and 4-Way CrossFireX capabilities the PCI-E slots will be running at x16/x8/x8/x8 in PCI-E 2.0 mode.

Looks to me like the X99 chipset is just a simple rebadged X79 with a few added features.

No other PCI-E devices installed. No M.2 nor U.2 devices installed also.
I had installed latest GPU-Z and replaced it with ASUS GPU-Z and still the same readout.

Got mouse and keyboard connected to USB 2.0 ports at the back.
USB Wi-Fi antenna dongle connected to one USB 3.1 port at the back, that's all.
