Hi scpetical, I'm max settings with a 780. Maybe not games that have been coming out recently like AotS, or Witcher 3 (neither of which I own.) but every other game I own I've maxed settings with my 780.

Yep, the one advantage at waiting on buying games down the road.

I think I did not buy any major AAA games in over two years now. Only one comes to mind and that is Cities:Skylines, but that more CPU bound than anything else.

Here is an OC comparison vs a custom 980 ti and the 1070 gtx. Before and after both are OC, the 980Ti g1 wipes the floor with the 1070 gtx.

Also, the constant reboots from PITA overclocking is nice reminder of how smart it was to ditch mechanical drives for SSD's.

Then again, the set it and forget it Maxwell overclocking is very convenient.

How is it not a bad thing, when the official announcement revealed a card clocked at 2.1GHz and 67c with no disclaimers? Most reviewers are averaging 2.0GHz on open benches. Don't forget the premium NVidia now wants us to pay for an unsustainable advertised clock. For the first time they realized they gave us too much free OC headroom in previous gens and came up with Boost 3.0 to settle the score, and handed the bill to the customer.

oc'd 1070 matches oc'd 980Ti in Witcher 3, while consuming 120W less under load. I think I might actually trade my 980Ti 6G Gaming (81.4 asic) for 1070 8G Gaming X. The Witcher 3 is the only already released game I'm playing, and 1070 will be getting better support for future titles.

8% faster is wiping the floor? No.
