[OverclockersClub]Overclock showdown: GTX 980Ti vs GTX 1070 vs GTX 1080 - Page 24

Seems like lot of 980ti owners are very insecure and are getting pretty defensive. Facts are facts and 980tis = 1070s and as drivers mature, 1070s will get better.

1080 is a different story. Sorry, your 980tis will never touch it.
pretty much

980Ti owners simply need to accept reality redface.gif like I said countless times before biggrin.gif

that said 980Ti is stil a fantastic card thumb.gif

lol what reality?

1080 is 15-20% faster than 980 Ti OC vs OC? Check
1070 is on par with 980 Ti with more vram at 60-70% the price? Check

Nobody's denying these facts. If we appear "insecure" and "butthurt" to you, you might want to think about your own insecurities. wink.gif

^ many 980Ti owners were not as generous as that, or at least that was the case not long ago (cough headd cough)

maybe they settled down now redface.gif

Lol man, you are trolling I think. Not even one 980Ti owner in this thread said that 1080 is not faster than 980Ti. What are you talking about?

We simply said that performance difference is not high enough for 1080 to be consider by most 980Ti owners a worthy upgrade.

And what is with this "need to accept reality"? Like we do not know here how GPU market works biggrin.gif

Your 1080 will be a past in few month when we will be getting 1080Ti, which will crush 1080 as always in the past.

And guess what? In next few months 1180 will comes out and will be faster than 1080Ti and story repeat itself biggrin.gif. Same story EVERY generation.

It is not like 980Ti owners do not have knowledge of how cards performe.

it is that they have enough knowledge to not upgrading to pointless 1080 when big Pascals will hit market soon, and 18% performance difference is just not worth upgrading now.

You sound like you need your epeen to be acknowledged becasue you finally bought something "best".

So here me out- your 1080 is faster (longer) than my 980Ti smile.gif. I hope you are satisfied now thumb.gif

It really wasn't worth it to upgrade from a 780 TI to a 980 either so I don't know what the consternation is.

For someone without a GPU though the 1080 is great. Just got one. Think I got lucky too boosts to over 1900 out of the box. 2075 quick and dirty in heaven. Sub 40 degree temps on water. Can't wait to get home and play with it more tonight.

I'm getting similar numbers with my Nvidia branded 1070 on air. Aside from the temps I've gotten it up to 2000Mhz+ and a score of 2018 on heaven bench at 1440 high settings and 4x AA.

Yeah reports of Pascal being poor at overclocking are a bit premature I think. I'm getting the lowest GPU temps I've ever seen on water and voltage right now is completely locked down.

As soon as someone figures out how to raise voltage a bit through software things are going to change even more. Not wading into the worth it debate but comparing super mature 980 TI's to Pascal in terms of overclocking is kind of silly I think.

I think we're in a state of if its not instantly 10x better then its not worth it. We've seen mature drivers make cards much better than their launch and all of a sudden everyone turned into naysayers saying its highly unlikely we'll see any performance increase. I haven't been able to test my OCing in live gaming yet so I'm a bit antsy to get home and push my card some more and actually get into some games. Only 7 hours left.... frown.gif

Myself, I am waiting for big die Pascal since 1070 and 1080 only barely does better PPD output than my Tis. Plus, don't really have a reason yet to bother getting rid of them since I am slow at buying new games anyways.

I just really hope the new Titan or Ti got some compute this time so I can use them in heavier BOINC projects that require it.

Only thing I am worried about from reading others who testing some in folding is they throttle bad atm with full loads during folding. Of course they are hunting out the problem still.

i got a 980ti and im not salty at all its the way nvidea does us on everything, imagine how people felt who bought the original titan for over $1000 just so it could get beat by a $400 r9-290 not too long later. imagine how all the 1080 owners gonna feel when it gets beat by a cheaper gpu next year? just the way it goes brah.

from what i seen the 980ti and 1070 trade blows depending on the game but most of the time they are 1-3 fps of each other. a couple games the 1070 has a 10fps lead or vice versa. either way the 980ti is overkill for years to come so when 1080ti is out i'll upgrade.
