Nobody's denying these facts. If we appear "insecure" and "butthurt" to you, you might want to think about your own insecurities. wink.gif

Actually Custom 980s Ti perform better than any 1070 gtx when both overclocked wink.gif

(i know, i know that 1070 is a reference one, but that's irrelevant with pascal. As we already saw that extra power phases and more power delivery make no difference at all for overclocking with pascal)

Sorry but I think the results are suspect. Although the 1080p benchmark is more believable given GamersNexus' result.
the only suspect here is vram limitation

no offense but mirrors edge is a crappy game, the division shows the 980ti beating the 1070 at 4k. its back and fourth depending on the game

We simply said that performance difference is not high enough for 1080 to be consider by most 980Ti owners a worthy upgrade.

And what is with this "need to accept reality"? Like we do not know here how GPU market works biggrin.gif

Your 1080 will be a past in few month when we will be getting 1080Ti, which will crush 1080 as always in the past.

And guess what? In next few months 1180 will comes out and will be faster than 1080Ti and story repeat itself biggrin.gif. Same story EVERY generation.

It is not like 980Ti owners do not have knowledge of how cards performe.

it is that they have enough knowledge to not upgrading to pointless 1080 when big Pascals will hit market soon, and 18% performance difference is just not worth upgrading now.

You sound like you need your epeen to be acknowledged becasue you finally bought something "best".

So here me out- your 1080 is faster (longer) than my 980Ti smile.gif. I hope you are satisfied now thumb.gif

I'm just stoked that EVGA is bumping me up for a 1080 for my 980TI. That is of course, if the video cards ever come into stock

Until then, I will enjoy my 980TI until the 1080 is available from EVGA. After this, I won't worry about cards in the future being better because this card should last a very long time and if Battlefield 1 is a game that's popular for years to come, I'll be happy.

Makes me think perhaps I should send an email to Gigabyte. Hehe

You don't upgrade from a full chip 980Ti to a cut-down 1080. You upgrade by waiting on big Pascal with either the 1080Ti or next Titan. I won't fall for Nvidia's price scheme's on overpriced 1080's while they sit on the Ti and Titan.

Or sell the 980ti for 500 a month or two before and buy a 1070 and then sell that to upgrade to a 1080ti? Then you lost nothing

lol a month or two. I sold mine for $470 and 15 days later I already had 1080 in my system. Two 980Ti Lightnings gotta cost $1.5K, gonna be hard to sell them for $500 1.5 year later

I picked up my first Lightning at $700 in August 2015. Just recently picked up the second for $450 from a local distributor. I'm happy with my purchase and will be more then ok getting $350-400 a piece out of them when the 1080Ti drops. Considering the performance of even the overclocked 1080 it not worth the upgrade for me. The 1080Ti will be a different story with a much larger jump in performance.
