[Build Log] S8S Blasphemy -An Air Cooled System Powered by Xeon - Page 5

Looking good!

The board, that ram, the cables, all blend in well with the video card and cpu cooler.

Noctua makes very good cpu coolers.
I had a D14 back in my air cooling days, and was very pleased with it.
Your C14S should work well, and no brown fans to clash with the color scheme, lol!

That setup looks great in the S8S, I might add!

I'm glad you like it !Yes, the Noctua works very well, and it provides airflow to the full populated Dimm slots. As for the colors, nothing but black and gray (call me boring tongue.gif). Unfortunately i'll have to complete that build after i move to another place. The office where i am now does not have 3 prongs outlet and it's a gloomy place. Too bad, i wish i could spend some time tinkering this machine. As for the GPU it will function without issues at Gen2, no problem there.

Morning Brosephio!

I'm loving that mobo of yours.

How did you remove/cover the red on your graphics card? That shroud Asus was using back then looks awesome in your left side window, better than the current Asus cards, loving those asymmetric fans oh yea baby, a true form-follows-function quasi-idiom delivery to be proud of. tongue.gif

I like how Asus repositioned the RAM slots and 24-pin mounts to open up the front of the mobo for pure clean unobstructed airflow, something I would deem very critical in a 2U 4U server rack chassis environment, and it's simply gorgeous to look at.

Black and Gray, two of my three favorite colors. biggrin.gif

Is it a work specific rig OR gaming work plus all-around hybrid do everything powerhouse computer?

I initially ordered the SSI-EEB mobo tray, but since I mounted a 60mm thick rad in the FlexBay, I wasn't left with much remaining space to route the two PETG 16mm tubing runs in front of the mobo and behind the radiator, so I went with the smaller ATX mobo tray.

Hey Bruce !

It's an honor and a pleasure to read a post from you, here, in my log thread !! I chose that motherboard because of its unusual layout which is used for server racks usually, like you noted it, and also i like that color scheme (black and gray, yay !). As for the GPU, i just removed the shroud (that was easy) and made this gray paint job, not perfect but at least i got rid of the red. I'm waiting for Pascal Quadro for that mobo, so i will use this system for learning : programming, creating small games, 3D animation and music. If all goes well, i will dedicate my little BH4 for gaming (i just can't quit video games !)

I explained the issues for the replacement board to ASUS ( GEN3 issue and once Dimms not properly detected) , they're sending me a new board !! Kudos to ASUS thumb.gif. I sold my GTX 780Ti and bought a 750Ti( tongue.gif ) really cheap for testing purposes and also to be able to play my old games on my second rig while waiting for the right cards to show up. I really hope that board will be golden, finger crossed.

Peace smile.gif

Wow Asus Europe is bringing their A game. After reading horror stories in the X99-E WS thread, Asus America making a lot of people lose faith.

Those guys are top notch. thumb.gif

I think the few posts on the X99-E WS thread about bad stories with ASUS RMA is not representative of the reality, few hiccups does not mean ASUS is not up to the task, maybe sometimes users are bad at filling a RMA request. Also the WS series has a special treatment regarding RMA, so, definitely, there's something wrong there.
