I've also killed an X5660 when I didn't reset cmos after cold overclocking and fired it up on water.
1 i3 6320 by trying to wipe TIM off the die.(It shattered)
1 1075T from condensation.
2 2500Ks.1 from voltage..another from sanding the die after delidding.

Now THAT'S enthusiastic. tongue.gif

I was surprised that I didn't kill my Ivy after running 1.6V through it. I couldn't get the validation @ 5.3 anyway. Sadly no CPUs killed apart from physical damage to the die of a 957MHz Duron.

AMD Athlon 2000+ chipped the core reseating the waterblock
Intel i7 3770K died (probably overvoltage.)

Strictly amateur hour here.

I allegedly killed an AMD Athlon Thunderbird. Not sure which one, but it was one of the early ones. I was probably around 13 at the time and I chipped the edge of the die, while improperly mounting the heatsink. At least that's what the warranty guy said. I'm not entirely convinced he didn't just say that because I was just a kid and he was looking for an easy way out.

I remember having to talk to Gateway 2000 tech support when I was about the same age.... about a BEAST 180Mhz Pentium Pro system that I screwed up. It wouldn't boot Windows, some file was gone.... The guy had the meanest tone of voice, having to talk to this kid that broke daddy's computer. Lol... I was screwing around with wave file editors and sent my computer into an endless loop of computations, so I just reset it. Oops.

Remember those days? "It is now safe to turn off your computer"

Nowadays it's just a free for all... BSOD from overclocking? ***, now with Win 10 it give you a sad face and spends an hour sending a feedback report to MS... GOD it sucks. So I just reset the damn thing, haha. How could it it have the ability to send a feedback report, yet it's BSODed?

Back to topic though: Maybe we should start an obituary section in the forum!!!!!! EDIT: Ah, I see it's been suggested and shunned to the OT section.

Can I add one that isn't completely dead? I have an FX-55 that only does single channel after a 3.92 GHz run.

I don't think you put enough voltage too it.... keep trying....

It sounds like a lot.... But, well, it's still alive and you could probably get 3.93Ghz out of it with just a LITTLE bit more... tongue.gif

I believe the CPU has close to 4 GHz to give (hell, maybe even 4 GHz). I was at about -40'c and managed to save validations all the way up to 3.96 GHz but they were corrupt. At the end of the LN2 supply I decided to test for coldbug and got the pot all the way down to -170'c without coldbugging. The board can supply up to 2.108v (1.55v x 136%), so I think with those two factors AND it being the same week and stepping as FX-57s that did 4 GHz... It just might be possible.

Epic man. I've never even fooled around with water cooling, let alone ln2... However, the wife's got an Enthoo Pro, and space just begging to be filled.
