[WCCF] New Low for Microsoft: Removes the ‘X’ Button from Windows 10 Upgrade Dialog - Page 19

post #181 of 204
If they would stop trying to force me to upgrade my PC and then telling me it fails because the CPU and monitor are not supported I would very much appreciate it.

I don't understand what Windows gets by pushing everyone to Windows 10. Bottom line, what do they gain with mass adoption of Windows 10?

They want people to willingly upgrade without checking their settings and collect their data as outlined from their privacy statement:

1. comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies;

2. protect our customers, for example to prevent spam or attempts to defraud users of the services, or to help prevent the loss of life or serious injury of anyone;

3. operate and maintain the security of our services, including to prevent or stop an attack on our computer systems or networks; or

4. protect the rights or property of Microsoft, including enforcing the terms governing the use of the services - however, if we receive information indicating that someone is using our services to traffic in stolen intellectual or physical property of Microsoft, we will not inspect

a customer's private content ourselves, but we may refer the matter to law enforcement.

in the long run there will simply be a "Windows" operating system that will be continually updated without separate releases, and it will probably always be free. instead their money will come from data collection, advertising, and analytics - the same ways google and facebook operate

For me personally, that's literally the LEAST important aspect of an OS for my home PC. I don't care what they collect and i keep updates on auto because i don't care what the OS is doing as long as my computer works (and it rarely ever doesn't). What's important to me about an OS is speed, functionality/features, compatibility, UI, and stability, all of which Windows 10 does better than Windows 7 ever dreamed of (well I do miss aero). The telemetry red herring that people keep using to hate on the OS is not something that 99% of Windows users have ANYTHING to ever worry about but somehow that is the only thing they can ever talk about with Windows 10...

I'm still wondering how this company went from being one of the most well-respected software companies in the world to acting like every other file stealing, data mining, 99 cent two-bit app you'd find on an Android app store.

They tanked their own brand.

Just because you don't want any of your liberties and would rather live in a world that made East Germany look like a joke the rest of us don't. Many of us do understand where this is going and it's frightening.
