[WCCF] New Low for Microsoft: Removes the ‘X’ Button from Windows 10 Upgrade Dialog - Page 3

What the... I was thinking: 'Yeah I see why they're doing this, they're making sure that people on older versions of Windows are aware of being able to update to Windows 10 for free, so when you can't update for free anymore people can't really complain much about it as they literally had the update shoved in their faces constantly'

But then I realized that you cancel it anymore...

Nah, that can't be true. They wouldn't literally force people to update to Windows 10 without their consent would they? Right?

Please tell me it isn't true.

That wasnt the point I was making. My point is spying is in every os connected to the internet. Its how they know what to improve. Its just more visible in 10 because some people decided to blow it out of proportion.

Let me remind you that not everyone has social media accounts, is part of google's ecosystem (nor uses their search engine), and accepts all of the cookies. There is no reason for depriving the people that choose the alternative from their choice and putting everyone under the same roof.

Didnt say everyone did.

But you have an ISP? your ISP knows everything you do on the net because thats what they do. I could go on with examples, but you seem unwilling to consider more than what you have been told by others.

For people wondering if Microsoft will remove the free upgrade after the 1 year period is over, they don't have to!

Because by then, they'll have forced everyone onto Windows 10 anyway rolleyes.gif

I choose a different borderline to what I find acceptable. smile.gif Browsing habits are not one of my main concerns, as long as they do not affect how my OS behaves.

There is a reason for encrypted channels on which sensitive data is transferred, and that is MITM. However the OS works on an entirely different layer, it can capture all data before encryption. Essentially, I know what my ISP sees and I know what my OS can potentially see. Your comparison isn't really fair, plus we are again dismissing the other issues I have with Windows 10.

Since when was windows 10 required to be on the net? Windows 7 still has 4 more years of security updates, windows 8 has 7 more years left. Both OSX and linux get security updates as well.
