Nothing makes a happy consumer like coming home to find out your PC is literally boiling.

I've had issues with sound drivers working right since I upgraded my laptop to 10. Never had those issues when it was on 8.1

I had to downgrade my driver UI when I upgraded to 10. Third party company that makes Asus' STX drivers didn't release anything for 3 months after Windows 10's official release also.

Edit: Oh, and of course they don't work. Using the open source drivers that get made by the community, but had to wait for an "official" version before the Uni Xonar drivers came out.

I'm just going to refer to this OS as Windblows Two.
I like Windows 10. It's fast, it's stable, has a nice, no nonsense and sleek interface, and it just plain works. Does it spy on me? I mean, yeah. I turn most of that off with Spybot Anti Beacon though, so it spy's on me no more than any other OS I've used.

All in all - the Windows 10 hate is mostly propaganda and blown way out of proportion.

No. The hate is that M$ uses shady tactics to force it down people's throats when many don't want it.

I like how you say "no" as if you're going to discredit me outright. Sorry man, but that's your opinion. I personally still have a few computers running Windows 7 and 8.1, have yet to be forced to upgrade anything.

Besides - Apple has been doing this for years. Yet no one seems to hate them for it. The hypocrisy in the tech community is real.

http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-makes-blocking-windows-10-recommended-update-near-impossible-report/
Quote:
Update: It looks like this was a false alarm, based on conversations I'm having with folks on Twitter and contacts within Microsoft engineering. It seems the only way to trigger the particular screen in The Register post is by opening Windows Update, Ok'ing the install Windows 10, accepting the EULA, and then getting this screen asking when you want to schedule that update. And once a user have accepts the EULA, the user has officially consented to the update.

Again blown out of proportion, it's a stupid change by microsoft but isn't the forced upgrade everyone is reporting it as.

If you don't want to deal with it use something like gwx control panel.

Been using windows 10 since it was release, no idea how you people have so many problems. New OS on a 5+ year system with no issues, I feel like most of the people complaining are just making it up at this point.

It seems that this information is inaccurate, according to Microsoft. That is the window that appears after people have already said yes.

It's still poor UI design nonetheless and we all know why Microsoft is doing it. People should be given the option to change their minds and to cancel in that window too, just like people are at the very least able to select "Cancel" or "Back" when installing any other piece of software right until it's actually installing.

Pardon my English. There may be mistakes in grammar/spelling.
Let's look at this in parts:

Drivers: They 99% of the time come from the software/hardware manufacturer, not Microsoft. That other 1% is default generic drives that MS bundles with the OS to give you basic functionality so you can visit the vendors website and get up to date drivers. If there isn't any drivers for your hardware, blame the vendor.

WMC: We live in a DIY world friends. One thing I've learned in IT is there is always a way around thing. You want WMC back on 10? I'll give you 3 sources:
Source 1
Source 2
Source 3

On top of there, there are soooo man GPL/open source software that does things 1000% better that it makes WMC obsolete. Don't blame MS for your inability to change.

Automatic Updates: O...M..G.. Let me educate. There are 4 versions of Windows 10. Home, Pro, Enterprise, and Educations. Windows 10 Home DOES NOT HAVE THE FUNCTIONALITY to modify any update time or schedule. MS has decided to remove this feature because silly non educated uses like to schedule, reschedule, and cancel updates that are important to OS security. You know those service packs, security packs, hotfixes, etc that patch OS flaws? Yea 99% of infected machines belong to uneducated home users. You want to control your updates? Get WIndows 10 pro if your a home user. That allows you to notify to schedule AND defure upgrades. There is also advance options which allow your to modify that further. Enterprise and Education retain the same functionality for updates in 10 as in 7.

I swear, no one ready anything properly any more. We all just role with the hype/whine train and complain the same things that everyone else is without investigating ourself.

Oh and if your talking about all those twitch users who were in the middle of streaming and Windows 10 decided to update, I can bet it my rig it's these reasons below:

Using Windows 10 Home
Using Windows 10 pro with updates set to automatic

drops mic

You're pointing to an important problem. Microsoft thinks it's just easier to take all of its customers for fools and ignorant and thus force things on them than to make an effort to explain to them the pros and cons and give them options. If they aren't making the effort to be considerate and move knowledge further, they are doing it wrong and should not expect any sympathy from customers.

By the way, nice trendy way to finish your post. That's the crowd Microsoft is aiming at. We beg to differ.

You do ?

I don't. I don't agree with Apple's business philosophy and have never bought or owned any of their products and don't intend to.

The same for Tesla cars. I read their privacy policy recently and was horrified with the extent of the stuff they can do. It's not only telemetry, they can remote into your car and get to know everything, including browsing history, what radio stations you listen to, etc. They might as well have a person in the car next to you, it's much worse than Windows 10, and all of this worries me on a more global scale because companies all around can make seemingly educated / sciency / efficiency boosting excuses to invade more and more of your privacy. Why wouldn't an insurance company think it's a good idea to start discriminating people that opt to not wear a fitness band 24 hours a day in order to get a decent plan? Make people wear monitoring hardware as convicts wear GPS ankle bracelets, we're not that far away from it.

Technology enables a lot of stuff, but that doesn't mean that it's a good idea to implement it.

I've been using OS X for about 9 years now, and I've never been forced to upgrade. I've never even heard of Apple doing that until reading this thread. OS X notifies me daily that there are updates available, but I've put off updating for months on some machines and I've never started up my machine to find a new version of OS X running.
