The 2 Asrock 980DE3, i bought to give to a friend (for free). They 're cheaper than the extreme3 and it shows. 72C on IBT with undervolted 1090T. When i saw the difference in temperatures of the first GIgabyte, i then bought the other Gigabyte UD3P and the Biostar. Just to have 2 more "good" motherboards in case i need them, cause i plan to stay for long time in AM3+ and i don't want to buy used if they fry after they go EOL.

This is why i tell you to stay away from Asrock 970 with 8 cores. I 've seen there is a direct correlation between price and how more crappy the motherboard gets and the correlation is perfectly linear.

I remember one guy that came to this forum with this motherboard and he could overclock FX 8 core to 4.5 i think. We could hardly believe it. It's probably the best 4+1 motherboard out there. Stilt had already mentioned it.

The Gigabyte D3P will be miles better than the Asrock.

yeah I thought somebody mentioned it but I couldn't remember and didn't look back. Looking at its features it actually has the same features as that ASRock actually

I know. Nowdays, the minimum one should do with any FX, is 4Ghz. Even i, an undervolter, run at 4Ghz. It's a must. With the Asrock, you risk to throttle before that. There are people that throttle before 4Ghz with the extreme3 too. So it would be a very poor choice.

Moreover, like i said, this is a bad list to be (RMA in the 1st year, top motherboards in hardware.fr):

8.80% ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
- 8.05% ASRock AD2550B-ITX
- 7.93% + ASRock Extreme4 FM2A88M
- ASRock 970 Extreme3 7.25% R2.0
- 7.20% ASUS Maximus Extreme VI
- 5.95% 970 ASRock Pro3 R2.0
- 5.93% MSI Z87I
- 5.56% Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3
- ASRock 990FX Extreme3 5.26%
- 5.06% ASUS Maximus Formula VI
- 5.05% ASRock FM2A55M-VG3

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/2014-motherboard-rma-rate-new-update-from-hardware-fr.207128/

And the year before it was the same and before it was the Pro3 R1.0. These aren't motherboards that you can push to the limit and sleep serene dreams.

The Gigabyte, if not anything else, has full thickness PCB, which means, less heat, has heatsinked VRM and a decent overclock record.

cool, on my current 6300 and asus m5a97 plus I get to like 4.0 or 4.1 and after a bit it crashes and doesn't seem as fast as the clock speed

My 6300 can do 4.3 on the Asrock 970 Extreme3, but with uncomfortable temperatures. With the Gigabyte, you will certainly be able to run 4Ghz comfortably. Beyond that, it's anybody's guess. And 8 core is more difficult to overclock than a 6 core, specially with a 4+1 motherboard. But, the D3P seems at least the best 4+1 motherboard currently available, so worst case scenario, you will stay comfortably at 4Ghz without having to worrry about everything exploding or beastly heat.
