6600k oc

Thread Starter
Hi O'clockers,

My build -
Asus z170-a
i5-6600k oc'ed 4.5 @ 1.335v
Corsair h100i
2 x8 gb Corsair lpx ram
Amd sapphire r9 390
Samsung 500gb ssd
Corsair AX860i

Now for the problem, for my oc 6600k, i successfully ran aida64 for 13 hours, played gta V , the division for about 1-2hours each, no problems ,no bsod.
After playing the games, i let my system cool down for a few minutes, opened youtube, clicked on a video and boom. blue screen, stating - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x000000d1
but after it restarted, opened youtube and all is back to normal. Im a total noob at finding the cause , is it driver related? or is my oc still unstable? i would not dare run prime95 since it heats my cpu up to 83 degrees.

here's my aida64 streestest .

Thanks .

I know every chip is different but 1.335v for 4.5 seems high for a 6600k. Anyway, if you are running one of the newer versions of prime then yes the temps are gonna be high. If you have not tried it already run prime95 version 26.6

FWIW i have had OC's that could run for days on Aida and crash in less than a 12 hour run on Prime.

Downgrade to AIDA 64 v5.60. The latest version causes significantly higher CPU temperatures. As for the latest Prime95 version, it's actually okay to use. It's the versions between v26.6 and v28.9 that run really hot in stress tests.

Also depending on which stress test you do on Prime95, there is a certain one that will run your CPU very hot and another one that will be a bit cooler and etc. Also yeah Prime95 26.6 is a good version for all CPUs.

You can always increase your CPU voltage incrementally up by one notch and see if you still have the issue.
