Same for any other character, and even if I get killed in that situation I just feel a thousand times less frustrated because I know exactly how much of it was my fault, knowing that I could have prevented it, unlike in quick play with tick rate misleading me into thinking Hanzo wouldn't hit me based on the direction he was facing.

Maybe a higher 128Hz Tick Rate won't cure cancer, nor it will fix a couple's marriage, but it certainly will make of Overwatch 10 times the game it is now.

This isn't a scientific test, and your results don't mean anything.

You would have to compare the same vs the same, meaning run 100 custom games. 50 with 60 tick, 50 with default. You should not be aware of which one you're on. Ideally, the same group would be used too.

Then you record every time you get shot behind a wall or whatever you are attributing to the tickrate, and before making a new game, the host would tell you if it was 60 tick or not. Then you would have real data.

If you want numbers then refer to my previously posted explanation about how tick rate works, since nobody seem to care or understand about scientific data then maybe some empirical anecdotical example would feel more familiar and understandable, something like playing a Custom 60Hz match.

Numbers don't lie, Tick Rate adds a delay of up to X4 times that of the your ping to the total network delay if you had a ping of 25ms on a 20Hz Tick Rate, and that is to the server. When you take into consideration that the enemy player data being uploaded to the same server and then provided to you have the same delay then this number doubles.

If two ticks stacks it can get up to 200ms delay (Counting for the two players delay, you and your enemy on screen) plus your ping and his ping, 25ms for each, 50ms for a total of 250ms.

Now if you had a Rate of 160Hz Tick Rate = 5ms X 2 ticks (Two Ticks Stacking, worst case scenario) = 10ms + 25ms user ping = 35 to the server + 35ms for an enemy player receiving data from you on the same Tick Rate and ping = 70ms, down from 250ms with a Tick Rate of 20Hz with a delay of 50ms per tick.

That alone would fix 99% of all "Tick Rate kills", not only kills behind walls but also Hanzos that kill you without even aiming at your direction (Not using the multi arrow thing ofc) or some other wonky situations that will be just gone.

And I'm not saying we should go with 160Hz Tick Rate, it would be extremely nice no doubt but after 100Hz diminishing returns kick in, the greatest change is going from 20Hz to 60Hz, if we could have 128Hz Tick Rate though I'd definitely tattoo the Overwatch Logo on my genitals.

GUYS I HAVE GREAT NEWS!

Jeff Kaplan himself answered to my thread about Tick Rate, explaining in detail how they are going to proceed about upgrading their server's Tick Rate, he's basically confirming that they do intend to upgrade their servers later on.

http://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20744975070?page=1

He replied on page 2, he urges us to use the Custom Game Mode with 60Hz High Bandwitch settings so we can provide feedback, they can see the amount of people using Custom Mode with these settings, the more feedback and people using the Higher Tick rates the better!

Currently their custom game mode is having issues, like crashes and glitches, they have a Bug Reporting tool and a Crash reporting tool that sends information to Blizzard whenever your game client crash on this mode, it's crucial that in case it happens to us we do send this data.

My thread also got bumped to be the All in One feedback center, so feel free to post any of your insights! We really need to show our support with this if we want anything to change.

Must say I'm thoroughly enjoying this game. I had to buy two full copies as well, as not just for me, but my 14yo as well. Playing together with him has been brill. Now I just need to finish my new watercooled build to play in decent eye candy mode with decent FPS (gave up on the laptop idea).

Last time I got serious about my fun was when I bought one of the first Voodoo Monster 3D cards for Quake I. biggrin.gif

What makes you say that it is rubbish?

I've played throughout the open and closed beta and have had a lot of fun.

If you enjoy fast paced shooters such as Team Fortress 2, you will like this game.

If you don't enjoy fast paced shooters, then obviously this game isn't for you.

10,000,000 people might perhaps have the opinion that it's your opinion that's rubbish, not Overwatch. wink.gif
