The chart is speculation lies.

490X is most assuredly not gonna be HBM2. With memory compression being used now there's no need for it. They could put in 8gb GDDR5x (GQDR5) on a 512bit bus with 3456~ shaders and produce a nice solid $400 card.

What you'll see from AMD that uses HBM2 will be a monster 6000+ shader chip.

I believe a 4096 shader Vega 10 would use GDDR5X as well, the speed of it is more than enough for anything but the highest of the high-end. The TDP is also realistically 250w without HBM. It should still handily beat the 1080 and 1070, after that though, the 1080 ti and Titan 3, which is already taped out as of this post will be announced, putting the performance crown back in Nvidia's court.

Then we'll wait for vega 11 somewhere between mid 2017 and early 2018 with 16tflops or more with 8 Or 16GB HBM, it will beat out the Titan 3, causing the 1100 series to drop, still based off of pascal but on a more mature stepping GP104 will be re-branded 1170 and 1160, the 1180 will be GP102 based while P100 OR GP100 will be Titan 4 and 1180 ti, both of which will have HBM2 16GB.

Couple months later you'll see the 500 series which will largely consist of re-brands save 2 cards in the lineup, most likely a RX 580 or Similarly named card as it will then be the oldest GPU in the lineup.

What's more exciting is the use of HBM in laptop gpus, where HBM1 will be both cost-efffective and far more efficient. I can see Polaris 11 tier chips with 1 OR 2GB of HBM1 being utilized in various small formfactors and mobile gpu's. Potentially on some ARM soc's and apu's.... That will be fun times for mobile.

Fury X had a real problem using all its cores. I am pretty sure they improved IPC. Also price will play a big role. If this card is ~ $550 than it's a good deal.

16gb of hbm is neither needed nor realistic, 8 gb is a more realistic expectation...it's never ever happened that vram has quadrupled on flagship cards only 1 generation apart

390X was 8GB. 16GB is plausible but unlikely. I am fine with 16GB if it does not effect price too much.

My calculations put Polaris 10 IPC at roughly 29% higher than Fiji at DX11. That is assuming the C7 P10 is the RX480 with 36 cu's is clocked at 1266mhz without a higher boost clock that we haven't heard of yet

That's not "amazing" when you compare the improvements Nvidia made going from Kepler to Maxwell, but it's more likely than not. That means a 4096 core Vega 10 running at the same clocks as fury X (1050 mhz) should be capable of 29% improvement over that same fury X. Since this is 14nm, we can easily expect higher clocks. It should compete with the 1080 and beat the 1080 in almost all cases

ofc, gddr5 != hbm and 390x wasn't/isn't the flagship card either

it would likely affect price significantly, fury X only had 4gb. if it was cheap, then fury x would come in 4 and 8gb flavors like the r9 290 did. the fact that nvidia didn't bother implementing hbm yet suggests that it's still a worse value than gddr5/x

Even when fury was announced to have 4GB HBM people chose the 6GB Nvidia models over it, not because Maxwell was a better architecture (it was for most games), but rather because it was 6GB vs 4GB of Vram, people at BestBuy 2 years ago were still buying gddr3 cards because it had more "storage"

Plus, even with a card more powerful than the 1080, G5X RAM is Nowhere near it's theoretical limit as 1080 only uses a 256 bit bus

If its 8GB HBM2 ~ $550 you can bet Nvidia 16GB HMB2 1080 Ti will be $749-799. I think 8GB is more then enough even for 4K. You really do not want 16GB cards right now. That mean make devs way too lazy.
