Im not super shook up over not being able to overclock immediately. If they arent going to fix it however, i will be upset.

I actually returbed mine and got the strix. A sales guy at micro center mentioned he had heard the msi board had issues with broadwell

True. It's the stuck at 800MHz issue that seems to be either the motherboard or BIOS at fault for MSI on broadwell CPUs.

I have the ASUS SABERTOOTH X99 motherboard with an i7 6800k and the only way I was able to get my CPU to overclock was to increase the CPU strap as well as the BCLK.

I managed to get a CPU strap of 167 and a BCLK of 171.5 @ 4.45Ghz with 32Gb of DDR4 Corsair Platinum @ 2400Mhz.

My CPU would not overclock at the stock BCLK of 100. If I tried to disable turbo boost and manually increase the multiplier, It kept reverting back to the stock turbo clock speeds @ 3.8Ghz. Even if I set the turbo boost target speed to 4.4Ghz it would never boost to that speed under any load and always stayed at 3.8Ghz.

This seems to be the problem that y'all are facing with OCing the 6800k with the MSI boards. I also am experiencing the same problem unless I manually OC the CPU strap and BCLK. I have to set them to at least 125 for both in order for the turbo boost to be disabled and my OC speed to work.

I recently bought 16Gb of 3200Mhz Corsair Platinum RAM and I cannot get any CPU OC past 3.8Ghz without it giving me a RAM error via LED indicator before the BIOS boots up.

I am considering updating the BIOS to see if that will allow me to use the 3200 kit along with a 4.45Ghz CPU OC. I am a bit concerned about updating the BIOS as it may not let me go back to my old OC settings that I mentioned above. It could literally screw everything up. So I guess I will wait to see if others have had good luck with updating their BIOS with my board and chip.

Anyways, try OC you CPU strap and BCLK and that should get rid of the turbo boost problem and give you a solid OC.

If anyone knows a thread or post about updating the X99 SABERTOOTH BIOS with the 6800k with OCing success, please link it in your comment. I would greatly appreciate it.

* Update: I recently updated my BIOS to the latest version and now I am able to OC my CPU to 4.45 GHz along with my RAM to 3200 MHz. The BIOS update fixed things. I hope you guys using the MSI boards get an update soon.
