970a ud3p in haf xb... Nh D15 for fx 8300 at 1.5v + ? or H110i GTX

Hi smile.gif

I looked at some picture of the gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and it seem to be the same size as my mobo.

So im wondering if a noctua would do the job for a fx 8300 with 1.5-1.55 or the h110i gtx is the best bet?

Thank you

H110 is not as good as top air.

The top air coolers are all so close in performance it 's scary. How well your case airflow is optimized makes way more difference than what cooler is used.

Seem the h110i gt or gtx is on par with a nh d15. Except alot quieter.

But im kinda affraid that the d15 do cool very good since metal conduct heat better than water... But im kinda affraid of overloading the heatsink.. Since an amd fx do output ton of heat.

Il stick with a h110i gtx i think. If it fail il rma. And if fail again well i will have learned that im going to go air for everything smile.gif

There is absolutely no way an 8300 would be too much for an NH-D15 no matter what the clock. I have one and its massive. People run 9590's with NH-D15's. Closed loop coolers are garbage. Even the so called best are just gimmicky junk.

All i have seen about 9590 on nh d15 is them running at 60c while gaming. And hitting 70c with stress test..

My h75 with 1.42v 4.4 is hitting 55-65c while folding on 7 core.. I dont see how a 2x better pump and ways bigger rad would not allow me to run 9590 level 1.5v Except i cant get their clock speed.

Bad bin uh

My room is at 20c So that do make it lower than normal.

If you can show me that the nh d15 is as good... Im gonna order it todays. Or the h110i gtx.

I need something better. 60c is ways to high mad.gif

I have a gskill trident x with the removable heatsink.. Im affraid i could not fit the fan... And my Northbride fan..

The case is currently with top and 1 panel off. So airflow is pretty good.. But im gonna add a second 7950 in that rigs later.

So that why i kinda like the radiator since it move lot of air smile.gif

Wait....what? I am hoping this is just the wording. Please tell me that you are saying that the NH-D15 is a lot quieter. When I reviewed these units the H110i GT was 25 dB louder than the NH-D15. It was far and away the loudest cooler I ever tested aside from the H100i GTX. CLCs depend on incredible amounts of airflow to operate (since their pump and rads are trash), and with that comes incredible amounts of noise.

And I have no idea where you are coming up with either of these having a better pump than your H75, but that is incorrect. They don't have better flow rates. The GTX pumps are the same pump as the H75 simply with the ability to run slower since so many people complained about the pump's noise.

Oh crap yea i badly worded what i mean to says.. The d15 is the quietest cooler smile.gif

Well the h110i gtx i got here max rpm is like 3k and the h75 i think is 1500 smile.gif

And the block is ways bigger So i do suspect it another pump.

The h110i gt is cool it and the h110i gtx and h75 asetek

I choose to go with the h110i gtx for easier acces to my vrm + northbridge fan. And will allow me to move the air in the case easier... Haf Xb airflow seem pretty crappy

If i build another rigs im for sure getting a nh d15... But will buy stuff to fit... Low profile ram.. A mobo that doest need cooling etc.

The only thing "bigger" is the plastic cover. Trust me, essentially the same pump as the H75, ability to slow down is the major "improvement".

Ok kinda dumb.. The h75 would probably perform better if the pump would have run at 3k rpm smile.gif
