Want to build a budget intel gaming pc

Thread Starter
I want to get away from console gaming, and try out pc gaming. I would prefer intel over AMD, and was wondering what are the best bang for your buck parts to build a $600 computer.

Curious, but do you still have the computer in your sig? Would be great to know what you do have available to use and use the budget around what you do need.

$600 just for the tower, correct?

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/K6DD4C

I left ~$150 for you to customize it.
Right now a Z170 board would be about $30 more and you could download an earlier BIOS update to turn up the BCLK.
I recommend the i3-6100 over the 6300/6320 and over the i5-6400/6500 for price/performance right now. You could squeeze in an i5-6600k though, but I would recommend squeezing in a 1070 instead when it comes out (in a couple weeks I think?).

i5 6600k $255
EVGA Hadron $140
R9 480 from AMD. Soon to be released by the end of the month $200
$100 SSD
$50 Memory
$100 Motherboard

Everything else is determined by your needs. I recommend going the itx route unless you plan on building a mini supercomputer. I just love small computers. Anything bigger really isn't needed unless you need 10 hard drives, dual gpu, or anything of the sort.

You're right that will be hard to squeeze. Look for a second hand 4690k or something similar. That'll save you another $100.

The 480 is a good choice, but that might be a bit hard to squeeze it in with the 6600k don't you think?

Yeah I edited my post above. PM me tomorrow and I'll get something more in your budget if you want. Bedtime though. Good luck!

Best thing on a budget is to mix used and new if possible. You really don't need Skylake for gaming and overclocking isn't really a must. You could probably build a nice i3/i5(none K) and 290\290X setup for $600. Buy HD and PSU new.

form factor doesn't really matter, as space isn't an issue
