No kidding if one hasn't played in that long if they logged in it might also be like a brand new game all over again.

Guild Wars 2 is a good f2p game. You can try everything out aside from the expansion for free, and if you do decide to buy there is only the box price. No sub fee.

Not since 2004. Sony ruined that game through and through.

Only worthwhile way to play it now is Project 1999, or a custom EQ server like Shards of Dalaya.

Back to OP....I would say Guild Wars 2, but I really can't. I'm sick of how ANET is running what was once a unique and memorable franchise with GW1 into the ground with GW2. I'm tired of ANET treating their releases for the game like a damn TV show. OK, you did this story, now find out how it ends....next year! The first expansion (after 3 years mind you) wasn't even that big in scope and left so many things still unanswered from years of "living story". At this stage, I am in the same boat of looking for a new MMO. As a veteran of that franchise, my patience with GW2 is running extremely thin.

Heard good things about ESO more recently, so thought about trying it.

Coming from GW2 apparently people like how ESO is based off the same "buy the game keep the game" mentality, with optional payments and no cash PTW. It's good until you get yourself to the top with multiple characters because they have a lot of expansions out now, but gets old very quick sadly as the quarterly expansions are expensive and relatively tiny. I finished the largest so far in 3 days...

But as I said, well worth the money spent on it until you hit the content wall.

For the past two weeks, I have been playing this mmoRPG.

http://projectgorgon.com

Project Gorgon is a very old-school type mmo. It's similar to Asheron's Call. No classes. Open world. One map instance (I think). No auction house but vendors sell used items. I never played Everquest, so I can't compare it to EQ.

There are lots of quests. Many quests are the usual fetch/delivery/kill quest, but you never repeat any quests. There are literally dozens of skills to learn. Multiple weapon abilities to learn. crafting.
In dungeons, the bosses which will curse you. It's difficult to remove a curse.

When you see numerous lines of bizarre text scrolling across your screen in a dungeon, turn around and go back, unless you are strong enough to kill the boss, because you will be cursed.
Project Gorgon is in open-alpha or open-beta. Feels like beta to me because I have encountered few or no bugs. currently no cost to play. donate to the developers if you enjoy the game.
