4 phases for cores
1 phase for chipset
1 phase for memory controller

However I do see an small AMD chip on the right from cpu.
This is probaly the southbridge/PCH.

It would be weird to have a motherboard without any kind of PCH.

It's 4+2 phase. AM4 supports APUs so there has to be a high current secondary power plane for the NB & GPU.
Hopefully no ODM makes AM4 boards with anything less than 6+2 phase VRM. The voltages on 14nm parts are going to be < 30% lower than on 28nm / 32nm parts. The VRM on AM4 boards will need to be able to provide > 35% higher amounts of current, at the same power levels than on older parts.

Your objection is silly. If I were HP and wanted to design my own power supply, I would certainly be able to use PCIe connectors or ATX aux connectors with the same pinouts. No sense line? That is unknowable. Their board might not use the standard on and power good signal lines present in ATX. Or, they could choose to do so and not put them in the power connector. No way to rule it out.

Then it isn't a standard connector anymore. You just argued against yourself.

Do you seriously believe your own argument? They are not 12v only. It is going to be exactly the same PSU they use in every SFF case. You can look up their pin out online.

I'm all for cost savings but I hope it doesnt limit OC potential.

Probably because you can remove the two plastic pieces that the coolers usually mounts to. Compatible with older coolers, and new brackets if the manufacturer wants to use their own mounting-system.

Thats how their existing bracket already works. Looks like their new one is so you can have the heatsink oriented in the other direction.

I'll take CPU pins over socket pins any day of the week. At least they're easily repairable if bent, and if broken can be jerry-rigged to work.

Hoping for some good mitx boards too.
