It's something manufacturers do not have an influence on. 3360 != 3366, at least SROM-wise. I suspect the internal design is the same but the SROMs differ quite a bit. They also probably contain some kind of a CRC check to prevent the SROM interchange. Some SROMs can be used in different sensors. For example, S3888 SROM works when flashed to A3090 and I think A9800 can use A9500 SROM.

i bet. maybe that's even the only thing that preventing interchange?
well, i figured the 3366 was just a different SROM and maybe different illumination package, something like what the S3095 is to the A3090. but i guess there's more to it, i don't do my homework very well

Well is the 3360 at least better than 3310? So 3366 > 3360 > 3310

?

3360 and 3366 both have integrated illumination, so that's no longer a variable.

"it depends"
and i mean that even with perfect firmware, 3310 is better than 3360 sometimes. and vice versa. (well you can say the same for almost any two sensor)

here's a really easy one: 3310 has native steps of 50dpi, 3360 has native steps of 100dpi

I don't really get the point of being intentionally vague. Do you have some sort of NDA going with Logitech or...?

A lot of things can affect "feel" but in terms of quantifiable performance, I'd be curious about the following metrics for 3366 vs 3360:

* input latency (with 3366 having less input latency than 3310/3988)
* perfect control speed
* framerate

If these 3 are more or less equivalent then I'm having a hard time understanding how the 3360 is particularly inferior to the 3366. If they're not equivalent, and you don't have some sort of NDA, just come out and say what's different.

Does it have some smoothing? That was my guess when you mentioned it before.

Do you think he would say "Yes" if he were under NDA?
Anyone with a brain would say "No" if they were smile.gif
