I tried to replicate this. Seems the smoothing starts at 2100cpi

That design is horrible for ergonomics.

It fits my hand nicely, palm- and claw-grip. I guess it can be a hit and miss. (I.E Naos 7000 felt awkward in my hand.)

The mmo-buttons are a bit wobbly and "in the way", but their clicks are plenty stiff so no accidental clicks so far. The only thing I would claim is trash, is its weight.

i was hoping to see if any high-dpi users would notice it... but whatever

for 3360, with the current srom (0x03, afaik the only one available right now), there's:
32 frames of smoothing at >= 2100 dpi
2 frames at <= 2000dpi

actually, at <=2000dpi, if the sensor sees an extremely blurred image, it will bump up the smoothing to 32 frames. from what i've seen, this never happens if when using the default 2mm LOD register setting, as the LOD will stop tracking before the image becomes blurred enough. it happens near the threshold for the 3mm register setting though.

for 3366, it's 2 frames at all dpi's for the latest srom. see http://www.overclock.net/t/1561041/reverse-engineering-3366/200_100#post_25093385
i suppose logitech has the ability (or can directly ask pixart) to remove it completely in an srom update.

fyi, 2frames smoothing is literally impossible to detect. like if you're moving at 8000 pixels/second, you'd be off by 1 pixel. which makes it weird why it's not just off completely...

for reference,
3360/3366 framerate modes are approximately

4100
4900
5900
11600

it varies by a few percent from sensor to sensor though

when accelerating, the transition speeds are roughly at 0.4m/s, 0.8m/s, and 1.2m/s
i.e.
in the accelerating portion of the swipe, the sensor starts at 4100fps, increases to 4900fps after hitting 0.4m/s, increases to 5900fps after hitting 0.8m/s, increases to 11600fps after hitting 1.2m/s.
when decelerating, the transition speeds are lower (don't remember exact values), so there's a bit of hysteresis in the mode-switching.

3310 and 3988 are similar, but with 3 modes

So basically 3360 is solid if we use below 2100

Which is great cause I'd say majority use 400-800. I can't see a reason for 2100dpi but hopefully that can change? Any other major differences or should we be happy with 3360

Even a small amount of smoothing probably reduces jitter significantly. Also I could see how a very small amount of smoothing might be necessary improve low speed accuracy and not have drift while the mouse is stationary without having a higher starting speed. For some reason I feel like I'm using a slightly wrong term for what I'm trying to say right now, but I can't think of the right one.

literally does nothing to jitter either. suppose framerate is exactly 4000. in every 1ms, you already sum over data from the last 4 frames. with the 2frames smoothing, you're summing over data from 0.5* the most recent frame, 3 frames before that, and 0.5* the frame before those 3

btw these sensors have no "starting speed" since they track absolute positions. a friend of mine checked with a linear stage moving a mouse at 2 microns/second.

well yea biggest difference is that like with 3090 and 3310, most 3360 mice will have firmware by some random asian odm

sensor-wise:

100 dpi steps of course.

probably many mice will have the sensor rotated by 180 compared to logitech's 3366. not that that matters...

logitech has the "clock tuning" thing for 3366 but i don't think it does anything meaningful.

i don't know of anything else at this point
