AOC AG271QG Thread - 1440p 144Hz GSync IPS - Page 3

I've had 3 XB270HUs and 2 PG279Qs that I returned, and while my XB271HU's uniformity isn't exactly stellar, the difference is night and day. This has been consistent with photos I've seen on the net and these forums.

The fact that we even have to have this conversation about monitors in the 700$ + range is the real issue here. If Im spending that kind of money I better not have to worry about anything.

After the stuff Pereb said, while I still don't think the AOC should be dismissed without seeing actual reviews or knowing what parts are used, I did some digging to see if what he said was true in general.

I did find that the Acer XB271HU does actually use what seems to be a better panel than the Acer XB270HU or Asus PG279Q, as he said in his comments, and it seems that this may in fact lead to less BLB and lower rates of quality control issues. The thing that really sold me on it was this thread though, where someone had bought multiple Acer and Asus monitors to compare directly, as he wanted to find the best one for a multi-monitor setup.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1554247/build-log-vegas-2015-chromed-copper-tube-gaming-system/140

Based on that, I actually decided to order the Acer. Not necessarily because I don't think the AOC couldn't be as good, but because I just bought a 1080 and want the new monitor to play with ASAP, I have no idea when the AOC will be available, I don't know how much it will cost, I don't know if it will be any better than the Acer or Asus, etc... Basically, I got impatient and after reading that thread CallsignVega convinced me the Acer is a really good monitor, especially after his comments when he took it apart.

I do hope the AOC will be good, because more competition is needed in this monitor range, I just decided that there were too many unknowns about it and I got impatient. I'll see how the Acer is tomorrow hopefully. (ordered through Wal-Mart so it's easy to return if there are problems)

I can still spot some slight color/brightness variation on my XB271HU but they are much, much less visible. To be fair you aren't going to find a perfect uniformity LCD unless you get an expensive pro-grade monitor that still needs an uniformity compensation feature. BLB on mine is almost non-existant aswell, then again I only found BLB to be an issue on the PG279Q.
You'll notice a difference due to the higher resolution and refresh rate. Don't know about colors. The coating is light matte and is pretty good IMO, it reduces reflections without making the image look grainy.

Thanks for the great explanation , what about low res ,? how is it if you put the XB271HU on 720P is it going to keep the text sharpness ? as my current vg27ah that have native 1080P still keep the sharpness and the image quality on 720P as i have myopia and i only switch to 1080P when i play games or watch a movie .

My only problem is that monitor is very glossy and it will kill the games and movie when it get dark .

the only point that keep me not to get these 1440P monitor is that their native resolution is 1440 and you will not get the same image quality of your native 1080P movie .and i 'm a bit afraid about the image quality of these monitors if you put them on 720P for normal web browsing and other stuff .

BTW if i 'm not asking much can you share some pic on 720P from your monitor with text on it , i will really appreciate it ?

here is mine on 720P , if you take a picture for your XB271HU hope you take the same spot as mine which is the text of web of this same page above comment smile.gif , i like to get this monitor a lot but it will cost me a lot too as its not available in my country and i will not able to return it .

Except that it's due in July onwards and a press release was issued to that effect yesterday. Refer to my website for appropriate updates.

If you quote something directly you should include the source. smile.gif Also, that is just the MSRP and not the street price which may be slightly lower.

I was all set on the XB271HU, but this issue - http://community.acer.com/t5/Predator-Monitors/Line-down-the-middle-overlapping-image/td-p/418751/page/7 holds me back a bit

wonder if the AOC will have it

I really hope AOC AG271QG reviews/impressions will mention if this line issue is present on it

I think I might have actually seen that issue while playing Witcher 3. Kind of a shifted screen with each have being slightly off. Wasn't sure if it was the monitor or the game because I only saw it the once for a few minutes, restarted the game and haven't seen it again.
