AOC AG271QG Thread - 1440p 144Hz GSync IPS - Page 21

I will just copy and paste pc monitor's & tftcentral's sentences to explain you:
"Be careful when trying to assess or compare ‘backlight bleed’ of our unit to others on the internet. Users tend to post hugely over-exposed photographs, often taken relatively close to the screen and therefore capturing ‘AHVA glow’ as well as any backlight bleed. Backlight bleed does vary between individual units even if ‘AHVA glow’ does not"
"This IPS glow is a "feature" of nearly every IPS-type panel on the market, so as a buyer you should be expecting it. It's not grounds for a return of the screen as a fault when it is just a feature of the panel technology. The bigger the screen, and the wider the field of view, the more obvious this glowing from the corners will be. If you move your viewing position back a bit, it will be reduced. As you look towards the corners of the screen you can see a glow and pale areas on the dark content."

Before to check if the ips glow is too big for your viewing angle, are there any dust/dead pixels/ cloud ?

Also, how can i enable 165 hz? I only get 144 hz. I also tried to overclock it to 165 hz with nvidia control panel, but no luck, it wouldn't work. I have an MSI GTX 1080 gaming z card.
Maybe by using this overclock mode from your monitor's option.
Once you set it in the OSD, visit Nvidia Control Panel to select your new max value.

I advise you to read this review: HERE

So from the review you posted above, it says they notice a blur when compared to a 1ms TN panel. Other people say 1ms to 4ms is not noticeable.

I've been using 1ms TN panels for a while as I usually play competitive multiplayer shooters, so now I'm not sure about buying one of these. I tried a Yamakasi overclocked monitor back in the day, and I couldn't take the blur/ghosting. I think those were 7ms.

If you have both, can you make out a difference? I like that the have low input lag, but is it negated by the pixel response time?

Hi guys,

I got mine AOC AG271QG last week, played with it a bit and it seems ok'ish, but I have dilemma about BLB.
It's not as bad as I've seen on the web so far but it's not eye-candy either.

Based on picturees below (one in dark and one semi-bright room), would you say it is acceptable or it's better to RMA?

I just ordered me from Newegg on the shell shocker deal for $580. I'm going to try and sell my apple Cinema Display for $500 and make an easy transition. But my wife may veto it if it's ugly. Nice price too considering the Acer is $599 at Costco but it has that hideous Predator logo on it.
I'm not worried about the BLB, we never use it in a dark room. If no dead pixels I'm good.

Has anyone managed 3d Vision to work?
I have the 24 inch version AG241QG and cant configure 3d Vision.
Got the IR emitter connected and vision 1 glasses but the glasses dont respond to emitter.

On my Asus VG248QE everythings fine, so glasses working.
I read somewhere that all GSYNC + ULMB monitors automatically support 3d vision.

Any experiences?

Just got mine today. Paid 550€ for it on CDON so it was quite a bargain. Too bad the backlight bleed is ******* terrible and I am 100% going to RMA it, hopefully I get better one back.

Heres image of AGON and DELL both 27" IPS displays. Agon on the left and the bleed is ******* unbearable

I had both this and the TN-brother (QX) last week for testing. Now I'm considering keeping the TN-version (399€) as the IPS had an awful yellow blb while the TN has close to none. Colours and contrast are quite similar, but the viewing angles are obviously poor in the TN. IPS-version's ULMB was great but added input lag (~13ms @ 120hz), so I can't really use that as a competitive gamer. I were also somewhat underwhelmed by the G-Sync that seemed to have a minor impact on the smoothness, adding input lag as well. Maybe I'm not that sensitive to tearing, or maybe my testing scenarios didn't really put it to great use (Played Doom and Prey with fluctuating FPS and G-Sync). Is there any alternative on the market (27"+, QHD+, no input lag, no blb, 100hz+, good motion clarity) that I should look into, or should I just try to live with the TN's view angles?
