[YT] An overview of Ubisofts downgraded games - Page 2

I'm astound on the atmosphere differences between the demos and the actual game.
I mean, it looks so different so many times with the smoke, the ambiance, the games turn from astounding to meh so quickly.

I'm glad I hadn't bought one of those games.

Come on. rolleyes.gif

Case Watch Dogs:
How are E3 demos overly optimistic if those E3 features are in the game but Ubi decided to just lock them away from you while simultaneously telling people the final product "can look even better than the E3 demo." ?
In some countries that is in the borderline of false advertising.

Annnd this is why I haven't bought an Ubisoft game in.... I can't remember how long.

They're sleazy, doesn't matter how you butter it up. Their habitual practice of making a vertical slice that looks superb and then reducing the game to pigeon-crap by release shouldn't be tolerated.

They don't just do it with graphics, they do it with interface designs, stories, gameplay mechanics, etc..

100% false advertisement. Please do not sugar code it with stuff like `pre release footage` etc...

Sure you can have character design changes or enviroment changes but changing textures lightning and making them look worse along with other stuff meanwhile in your official channels still having trailers from E3 quality than it is 100% false advertisement.

At least have that visual quality in your game but tell people to have a strong hardware for that.

Pre alpha or pre release footage should be non polished footage. Not extra polished but later we will downgrade it footage.

Edit: Honestly though I would always expect final game to have improvements over what they showed before. Not downgrades. If you can somehow achieve that quality in your game than you better present it in the game. I dont care if it asks for 4 gtx1080s to achieve that but have it in your game.

100% not false advertisement as early E3 footage isn't even official advertisement. It can be seen as a promotional material to create hype but it's not official advertisement of final product.

there is no such requirement anywhere. it would be nice if final game looked even better, but it's not a rule. often these early demos are created in tiny arenas, and when they approach release date and connect it all together, especially open world games, requirements to run entire world smoothly skyrockets.

all i can say is if you don't want to be disappointed stop watching any prerelease footage of any game and always wait for final version reviews/footage. if you bought any game of 1-2 prerelease footage you only got yourself to blame, this isn't false advertising in any way.

Sure, Ubisoft have an annoying habit of showing more than they can pull off. But in the end, they have no choice but to target consoles (and lowend PCs) that remain the lowest common denominator. Or would you rather have unplayable 10fps games with E3 demo graphics?

I think you are ok when developers lie to you but I am not ok when developers lie to me.

Yo do not go to a car show and introduce a new car with great design but 2 years later take out some parts and make it look worse.

When you introduce something you stick to it and make it better

the ` pre release ` argument is their free get out of jail card.

Yeah there is no rule but there should be some monitoring in to this situation. It is getting ridicolous. Especially in this video. Big chunk of the changes are MAJOR changes graphically.

Hence the reason in E3 events they should always show the source of the footage. Is it console or PC. If it is a console than which one it is.

Than they can always add the eye candy to the PC.

If somehow they achieved those graphics in Division 100% playable as stage demos, they better have it available in game. Nobody would blame them if a single 1080 OCed would not run it stable over 60 or 30fps, but than we enthusiasts would have a reason to upgrade our hardware.

They are 100% misleading us with superior graphics and 100% advertising their games wrongly.

interesting your brought car analogy, as most concept car designs look amazing, but when final version is out it looks same old. yet you don't care when car companies do this, but care when game companies do this.
