Stock 6700k - Believe it's running a bit hot...

I just finished a 2 hour stress test using AIDA64 before I started overclocking, Are these temps where they should be when using a Swiftech H240 X2?

And also, the lights on the cooler were fine and working but the pump was barely spinning, I fixed that issue but now the lights aren't coming on. Not a big deal but I wonder what could of happened to make them stop working.

Anyways, here's the HWMonitor screenshot of the temps.

Do these temps look fairly ok for stock and using water for cooling?

Temp look good to me, but it aint stock since u hit 4200 on 4 cores should be 4000 and voltage seems a bit high.
You prolly using an Asus board that uses "sync all cores" and puts some more voltage on the cpu while it does that tongue.gif

Try prime95 and see what the temps are with that.

Not sure what the 6700k does, i do have one just bought it but i used a Xeon 1230v3 cooler on it to test if it worked.
Did notice the same thing you have high voltage on the cpu and 4200 on all cores using a Maximus Impact VIII.
Now i have an Supermacy EVO red on it but i am waiting on some parts to test it tongue.gif

Yes, it's the Asus VIII Maximus Hero board. So it defaults to turbo mode with 4.2ghz.

Time to overclock it though.

On my little hobby farm gaming system, I use the Intel TS15A HSF (the reference heatsink for LGA1151) and I'm getting pretty much the exact temps that you are...when my CPU is overclocked to 4.5GHz. I was able to lower my Vcore to 1.275V. I ran 4.5GHz at 1.3V, but that small amount of voltage increase really shot the temps up, so it seems that these chips start to struggle with temps when the voltage is increased, although water cooling should buy a bit more thermal headroom. I do have a little AIO Asetek water cooler I can use, but I don't think it would get me more than maybe 100-200MHz additional.

Here's the temps and overclock and voltage before starting a stress test, doing that right now.

I tried starting at 1.28v, but couldn't even boot up with that so I upped it to 1.31v in the BIOS and that got me up and running. Not sure why HWMonitor is reporting it as 1.333v though.

Very good temps, 10°C between coolest and hottest cores seems a bit much but not bad at all. You could prob delid with clu and drop a few degrees if not get em all even more together. Mine only vary by 5°C or so. Looks good. Its about average for a 240mm

Not too bad for 4.6GHz, I think...what's your cache clocked at?

I used 41 for the cache min/max.

The stress test will be starting tonight while I'm at work so it'll have a solid 8 hours to stress and all.

You can try increasing it if you like. I'm able to run mine at the same 4.5GHz speed that my cores are running at with no issue and no extra voltage needed.

Stock clocks, means stock voltages. I'd say your voltages are high, naturally because you're running it stock. I bet you can drop your voltage down quite a bit and mainstain stock clocks still.
