ASRock z97 Extreme4 happily crashes if I disable Spread Spectrum

Thread Starter
I think for reasons that on these forums are obvious, I want to disable the "feature" Spread Spectrum.

The problem is, as soon as I do, the mobo crashes (ie: it crashes while saving or something like that), fires up all fans, leds, etc... and either starts to reboot infinitely, or it actually boots Windows, but audio-only, no video. (while fans are still all of them 100%).

Anyone know *** is going on there?

Any way to disable Spread Spectrum without my mobo freaking out?

Which spread spectrum are you disabling? There is PCIE / GPU and CPU spread spectrum. Well you don't really need to enable or disable it. You can leave whatever setting is working. Won't really make much of a noticeable impact on overclocking. Some of the new motherboards don't even have the feature to disable or enable this.
