Windows 10 will always force the Windows Update driver on you. If you have a different version, then it will be replaced. The next time Windows Update runs, it checks the driver version. If it doesn't match with what Microsoft has has the latest, Windows Update will replace it, even if you carefully selected the driver you have and even if you would prefer to stay with that driver instead of updating.
In other words, Microsoft has taken away the freedom to have whatever driver version you want. If a driver that Windows Update just installed is causing problems, then all you can do is TEMPORARILY replace it with the previous version. You will only be able to keep it until Microsoft obtains a new version and releases it through Windows Update because again, Windows Update will be comparing the current version with the one in its database. If it doesn't match, then Windows Update will replace it.
I think Microsoft grew tired of people having problems that were simply solved by updating to the latest driver. Unfortunately, those of us who know what we're doing suffer because we can't keep drivers installed that we prefer. Most of their customers must be computer-illiterate people who have an I.Q. of like 50 because I know one thing, I definitely don't need my OS to be doing any thinking for me. Good lord. I will never install Windows 10. What a stupid OS!!!
