Day 3 H110i issues... I think. (ISSUE FIXED) - Page 2

So since I redid thermal paste and put 4 washers on the back of the CPU bracket (done last night right before I posted) the temps have stayed low. I have peaked to 50* Celsius but other then that the temps have been good. That was yesterday today things are good.

Ok, that makes sense. Well, it doesn't make sense that you should need to do that, but it explains the issues.....

Right?!?, Re applied TIM 4 times before I realized it's got to be something else. Checked that and I could push on the pump and feel some flex. So.... Googlefu got me the answer another person had the same issue. he used cardboard spacers. I found some plastic spacers that came off another case.

So was it the coldplate/pump not making a full contact with you CPU? and causing the CPU temp to spike up?

What's bothering me is you have to use spacers to fix the issue.. does that mean that there is a gap between the board the cooler's standoffs?

That what it was. It was the Gap. I had to fix that. Z97-AR I found out the Asus boards tend to be thinner. I will see if I can find the Article.

Ah I see. If that's the case, then yes. We've seen this in the past where some boards are using thinner PCB that will potentially cause a gap between the board and the standoff resulting a poor contact between the coldplate and CPU. So you're right, a spacer/washer will have to be placed to close the gap.

I have used many ASUS boards and haven't run into the issue, but have no difficulty believing the problem exists. Really not cool that this is the case on a $150+ board. If it was an entry level board it is almost excusable, but not at that price point.
