in the Z97 it does, unsure how performance scales when larger power output is introduced (ie: x99)

x99 can reach around 210w when voltage below 1.3 on my case, I don't think z97/170 can do that unless you push it really high

From @ehume's review, the secret to the Fuma's impressive performance is the amount of pressure it puts on the IHS. So just tighten it down a few notches. biggrin.gif

On 1151, it will keep up with a D15. Skylake seems easier to cool than Haswell - No FIVR. I would replace the stock fans with a pair of GTs.

It looks good upto 160W on a hotplate:

Starts to fall behind at 200W loads tho, so not the 1st choice for X99 OC: http://www.frostytech.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2794&page=6

Tested on OC'd 6600k here.

Other options to the D15 include the Cryorig R1 Ultimate and TR Silver Arrow IB-E Extreme and DeepCool Assassin II - can run within +/-3 degrees with a D15.

R1 Review at HitechLegion

As others have said, the price/performance ratio of the Fuma is phenomenal.

Ideally I'd like to move down to the mATX or Mini-Itx form factor, I'm trying to think of the build backwards.
I wouldn't think it'd have much problems with mATX, seeing as the cooler is below 150mm tall.
e) does the cooler only come with two fan hold downs?
I've got EK vardars that would love the cooler.

so its very much possible to damage the cpu/socket when over tighten? does it have an over tighten protection?

If you check ehume's review, the best over-tighten protection is the installer's discretion.

However, Scythe has issued a revision for their mounting system with different screws to reduce mounting pressure on 1151 platforms.

There was never an issue with the older platforms - with Skylake, Intel reduced the thickness of the PCB which resulted in lower supported clamping force. The different platforms use slightly different mounting screws. Could contact Scythe for clarification.

Fear of crushing the CPU by installing a cooler while using the correct procedure, is pretty low on my system-destroying installation phobias. biggrin.gif

Reasonable care when installing any component will usually take care of the fears. Intel states a max spec of 50lbs of clamping force. In the tests I've seen, the limit is closer to 75lbs. Until 1151, at least.
