GTX 970 Now for $255 or $1070 Later for $370+?

Thread Starter
Hello,

So I just sold my rig for $1200, a pretty nice profit made! I am now pricing out hardware for my next build. I was originally going to build my PC and wait on a 1070. Now I see an Asus GTX 970 on Amazon for $285 with a $30 rebate = $255.00.

Is the 1070 going to be $115+ better than the 970? In all honesty, the 970 is more than enough for my needs. Keep in mind, I officially have no PC.

Thanks

Either way I would probably go with the 1070. I have a feeling a 970 will quickly decrease in value in the near future, so your better off for future upgrades like 1440p monitor, or even reselling the card if you get the 1070. Right off the bat you are paying 50-100 dollars more than the card will be worth right after you open it and will probably quickly tank soon after even more.

PS: You can also get a Zotac 970 from Newegg for 260 shipped with a promo code, tax free. Amazon will tax the crap out of you as well, but its still not worth it.

RX 480 for $199. Forget 970.

Yup! GTX 480 blows 970 out of the water. I'd go with that.

I usually don't go AMD, but if you want to stay below the price of the 1070 ($400), the RX 480 is definitely your best choice (and only $199)
