AMD have been giving every generation of GPU's the dual GPU treatment

Though Nvidias side seems lacking, they did put out the Titan Z but ASUS have seemed to make less MARS cards than they have ARES ones for some reason

I remember all thos. I'm talking about on the nVidia side the AIBs are pretty much doing nothing these days. EVGA did the GTX 460 2Win and the unreleased Gemini etc.

I thought the Devils 13 when it launhced was one of the coolest things out on the market but I had no need for it.

While the GTX 690 was full fledged GTX 680 GK104 chip, since it was two chips on a single PCB the power, cooling etc limitations made them more like two GTX 670s in SLI. As for your question about two of them in use they indeed had the same scaling issues as normal 4 Way SLI.

Why would they do this?

R.I.P Tri and Quad SLI.

How do they expect 2-Way SLI to get >60FPS in 5K with everything maxed out?

I'm in the process of doing benchmarks using 2-Way SLI GTX-1080 FE in 5K...

So no hope of running 4K Surround again. 5K w/ 2-Way SLI is not possible. Why on earth are they limiting what people can do. Such a ridiculous approach IMO.

On the bright side I guess I have two awesome paperweights! rolleyes.gif

blame developers for leaving multigpu behind.
i played star wars with a couple of them and it was totally pointless after the 2nd card.
i was surprised to run at 60fps maxed out at 4k with just one but then 100fps with the second, which it was pretty decent and the third just a few more fps..

There are like 2-3 SLI/CFX 2-Way for every 100 Systems with those cards. There are maybe 1-2 3-Way, 4-Way fro every 5000 systems. Waste of time to optimize for 3 and 4 way.

So I guess Nvidia will probably not have a dual GPU card again this generation since people wouldn't be able to sli them.

Not having 3way and 4way driver support doesn't have an effect on me personally but it feels like laziness on Nvidias part. We pay a bit of a premium for their products and a lot of the reason for that is quick and consistent driver support, getting lazy on driver support doesn't inspire much confidence in them going forward. It really doesn't matter how small the 3way/4way crowd is, they deserve the same driver support as the more common 2way users. Saying that almost no one uses it so it's ok to ignore them is just making excuses for Nvidia being lazy about multi gpu support

Same for me as I've personally gone two GPUs, however having that option now taken away from us is a but.;

You don't need 3 GPU's to play at 1600p lol.

I play at 1440p 144hz and have no issues with a single 980 ti in 90% of the games I play. 2 980 ti's would be more than enough for me.
