Unless you're hoping to play GTAV at 4K on it or something like that, yes. It would be a huge improvement over an X2 Regor. I have to use one of those at work and it's barely adequate anymore.

An A10-5800K is basically an FX-4300 with a Radeon HD 6670 DDR3 GPU tacked on. As long as you don't plan on doing much overclocking, that setup will work fine.

I don't game. the rig is solely for my movies and TV series that I can pull up anywhere in the house and watch as well controls my security system. the Reger was going well. I haven't had any issues. And I use it for my stock trades and it is a CPU and resource heavy program and the regor handled it. once in a while if get a little stall but it would catch right up. it was OCed to 3.8 giggles. I hoping that the A8 will be noticeably better and last me for 3-4 years. if I could find an AM3 socket AMD that is better than my Athlon I'd get that to hold me over a few weeks but u dug out my old phenom II x4 and it is adequate to watch movies but that's about it. if I can afford an A10 I will but the A8s are looking more likely. but o don't think there is much difference.

Most programs aren't threaded well except video encoding and some new games, go Intel for general PC stuff like spreadsheets and other specific software.

If you use FF, don't go AMD since FF isn't mult-threaded yet.

Intel has nothing at the price point
I have quickly realize that. The closest thing I can get to that price point is the I threes and I just think that the AMD A8 for a TENS will last me a little bit longer than the I3 will and save me some money and I don't think I'll notice that much of a difference for what I'm doing being I'm not gaming with it I'm just using it as a media server and security Center. I don't suppose you know much about the Athlon II X2 processor family. I wanted to get a temporary chip that I can put in my current board to get me through until I can get the parts I need and want but I wasn't sure which one would be better than what I had and I don't know that much about the chips to know which one's the best but I know that I can get any one of them for under 20 bucks would you happen to know if I sent you a link to the list of that my board will accept and actually be able to use, would you be able or willing to tell me which one would be the best one?
