First, I have 2 of these apus, 1 is on the ASROCK AM1H-ITX and I run it at stock settings as I have it installed in a .30 cal ammo can and have used it off and on as a htpc. I have overclocked it for fun with some success by hooking it up in a different case with a dedicated PSU and a rigged up cpu cooler from one of my FM2- cpus. That OC was limited to stock voltage as the ASROCK bios don't have any voltage adjustments.

My second rig is another 5350 but with the ASUS AM1M-A mobo. I have tried with several hdds, a ssd, different ram, and both Ubuntu and Windows 10 to get the thing to overclock. I can get it to boot into windows, but every time I restart with anything more than stock settings it wont reboot. I can't get it to boot properly with Ubuntu.

What Bios version version are you running? I updated mine to 1401 should that be a problem?

Is AMD Overdrive compatible with Kabini? I couldn't get it to run when I was doing stress tests for accurate temp monitoring.

Can you post your Bios settings?

Did you test without a dedicated GPU?

Don't want to dissapoint you, but Kabini's in particular aren't made for overclocking. They are just made as a low-tdp quad-core, equal to Intel Atom's CPUs.

Can you tell me what settings were you using for overclocking it?

Most mobos won't have many options for overclocking since like I said this really isn't made for overclocking.

I get that it isn't a overclocking oriented chip, I am only doing it as a hobby.

I'll list the settings as best as I can remember right now

AI Overclock tuner- ======MANUAL
APU Frequency(blck)- ===105 (to start, fails if I go above)
Memory Frequency- ====1333 (so it doesn't exceed the 1600 with the BLCK adjustment)
APU Multiplier- ========21.0

NB Frequency- ========400 (it only goes from auto, 400, 500, 600, 700, to 800)
EPU powersaving mode- ==DISABLED

No Dram timing adjustment

CPU voltage ===========1.30625 (stock is 1.3 but set to AUTO)
DRAM voltage =========1.65
CPU LLC ============High (80% i've tried at auto as well)
CPU/NB LLC ===========High (also tried with it off)
CPU Current Capability====130%
CPU/NB Current Capability==130%

CPU CONFIG
PSS Support=========== DISABLED (I belive this is like "cool'n'quiet")
NX Mode ============= ENABLED (stock setting, I couldn't find what this did except something to do with security)
SVM Mode ============ DISABLED
C6 Mode-============== DISABLED
CPB Mode ============= DISABLED (I believe this is like turbo boost)
Core Leveling Mode ====== Automatic

SATA CONFIG
OnChip SATA Chanel ===== Enabled (Stock)
OnChip SATA Type======== IDE

NB CONFIG
Primary Video Device ======IGFX Video
Integrated Graphics ======= Force
UMA Frame Buffer Size===== 1G

I have experimented with CPU voltage as high as 1.45v but still can't reboot with windows properly. I've seen the "Overclock failed press F1" screen so many times.

I was able to get the APU on the Asrock board up to a blck of 118 and boot into Ubuntu. but the bios settings are a bit different and there is no voltage controll above 1.3v
I believe I have decent ram and an adequate power supply (500+ watt bronze rated)

First off, I can see you're using IDE mode on SATA, am I right? That's the one thing you should immediatly change though it might require a clean system install.

Can you try moving back the BLCK to 100 and than just move the multiplier to 22x, for a start? BLCK also messes other things than RAM speed, could be an issue.

The 5350 apu is locked at a multiplier of 21 with the stock setting of 20.5. My research over the last two years of owning one indicates that IDE mode is required to get past the 106 blck multipier bios bug common to amd cpus.

Your advise would be good, if blck overclocking wasn't the only option. I reiterate I have gotten a kabini chip past 105 on another motherboard, but the ASUS AM1M-A is the preferred overclocking from what I can find through exhaustive research. I am aware of the problems like change of memory frequency, Northbrigde freqency, etc.
