Consistent Video and Sound Lagging

Thread Starter
I have a computer that consistently has lagging video and sound, even on locally stored content. Here's what I tried:

HDD/SSD Test: Passed
Memory Test: Passed
Driver Reinstalls
Factory Reset

The video files play on the other computers fine. Anything I am missing? The computer in question is the one named "Lizzy" in my sig.

Codecs. I imagine this happens with video files, right? Install either K-Lite codec pack or MPC-HC.

I don't think so. This happens on YouTube, MP3 files, and everything on VLC and all players I can throw at it.

This even happens with the Windows notification sound.

I 've no idea then. I 've never heard of mp3 lag before... See if this can help you.

Could my processor/motherboard be going bad? I was thinking of upgrading anyway to an A10 Godavari. Could that solve my problem?

I had something similar with a board i was testing for stability.
Similar issue, but after a fresh OS install it seemed to work fine.
Old drivers will do that I guess.

edit-Maybe run it stock? was it wasnt sig

I don't know, theoretically, maybe... If you can exclude software problem, then it's hardware. Latencymon should show you if a particular driver is causing the lag. If not and assuming you 're not overclocking (if you are, go back at stock), i would reinstall WIndows and see if with fresh Windows and no other software you get the same lag (WMP can play MP3s). If the lag appears as you add software, then some software is causing it.

You should also try different driver versions. If despite all this, you observe that after new Windows installation, you get the same symptoms, i would suspect hardware problem.
