Gsync and ULMB combined at the same time, synced down to 30 FPS

THIS WORKS ON VERY FEW MONITORS.

Requirement: A Gsync monitor that SUPPORTS 3D VISION 2 (Lightboost).
This seems to be a firmware bug, similar to the "VT tweak" on older Benq blur reduction monitors (which also is exploiting a Lightboost feature as a bug).

3:22 PM - Alex-sama: G-SYNC AND ULMB COMBINED!!!!!!รง
3:22 PM - Alex-sama: By accident tongue.gif
3:22 PM - Alex-sama: I have video proof of Skyrim.
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: Where the variable strobing can be seen.
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: Not uploaded yet.
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: yes i heard about that bu tit was a bug of some sort
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: and they said that
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: it was like ugly
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: It's perfect.
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: Down to 30fps.
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: No crosstalk.
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: what about
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: the flicker
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: at 50 fps
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: I don't mind flicker tongue.gif
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: how did
3:23 PM - Alex-sama: Even at 40fps
3:23 PM - Falkentyne: you do it then
3:24 PM - Falkentyne: adn canit be replicated on any monitor?
3:24 PM - Falkentyne: u and ur bugs
3:24 PM - Alex-sama: Here is how I did it:
3:24 PM - Alex-sama: - Play a game in 3D Vision, one of the games that somehow lock the monitor into Lightboost mode even after disabling 3D in the Nvidia CP.
3:25 PM - Alex-sama: - Disable 3D in the Nvidia CP.
3:25 PM - Alex-sama: - Enable completely G-Sync in the Nvidia CP.
3:25 PM - Alex-sama: - And voila, somehow the monitor is in ULMB mode.
3:25 PM - Alex-sama: Instead of G-Sync.

Note: if you can't go back to a non strobed mode, switch to 60hz then back to 120hz

*THIS MAY REQUIRE a 3d vision 2 kit*!
I do NOT know about unlocking lightboost on gsync monitors without a 3d vision 2 kit

The Lightboost vertical totals for 1080p monitors are:
100 hz: 1138 VT
110hz: 1143 VT
120hz: 1149 VT

I do not know whether 1440p monitors support 3d vision 2 and if they do, I do not know the Lightboost VTs for 1440p monitors.

Courtesy of Masterotaku from blurbusters (the same person who found the VT Tweak BBR limits and 60hz VT over DVI without a cable error).

30 fps tho is still prob motion blur inducing, gsync or no gsync, and ulmb isnt beneficial unless you know actually get rif of the blur.

so do you have blur in games? i know going from 100hz to 144hz i can notice blur is further reduced... so 30 fps... i just dont believe it sorry lol

It's just like ULMB and lightboost.mode except the fps is in sync with refresh rate. Meaning its glass smooth framerate. Just with FLICKERS below 70 fps.
Basically its a firmware bug where it seems to enable Lightboost instead of ULMB, with the lightboost reduced crosstalk being used.

If I'm understanding masterotaku correctly, it seems to be enabling lightboost combined with Gsync rather than ULMB combined with gsync, but that's just my guess. He's offline right now.

No, it wasn't Lightboost. It was clearly ULMB mode (even the OSD said so), with its strobe length setting available an everything (there isn't a Lightboost strobe length option in G-Sync monitors, at least in the Asus PG278Q and Dell S2716DG).

With The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, it was perfect. No tearing, crosstalk, stuttering or anything.

Anyway, the hardest part is to make Lightboost mode stick even when you disable it (it sometimes happens when I play some games in 3D and exit them). A few minutes ago I lost it when I created a custom resolution, I think. And now I can't manage to get that mode back! I guess it will randomly come back when I expect it the least.

I have video proof here with Skyrim: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u1mhybhc7u2l23m/Skyrim_gsync_ulmb.mp4?dl=0

You can see how dynamic strobing is, from second 10 onwards. The camera was recording at 30fps. When the black bars roll down, that's less than 60fps. When they roll up (when I looked at the sky), it was around 90fps.

By the way, my monitor is the Dell S2716DG, which works fine with 3D Vision 2 at 2560x1440.

I've got an XL2420G and a 3d vision kit. Will try this when I get home. What are some games that lock lightboost? Also do I need to make a custom resolution?

On a side note, I did notice that I had ULMB working on Overwatch the other day but the Nvidia cp showed G-Sync as on also. Didn't take notice if there was screen tearing as I was so focused on the game but after changing settings I couldn't get it to stick again.
