So do you think that put that in crossfire with my 280x will do the trick? ther is some problem tho. My 280x is a Vapor-X oc, 1070 core and 1550 memory, this 7970 is 925 core and 1375 memory... But even with that, i think it will crash because it's going to put some load on the card as well during driver install.

I also found some VRAM chip, hell they cost! 3.5€ each one!

I wouldn't crossfire them just have it in the system. I once had a 7950 and a 5870 just to flash the 7950.

I don't know whats wrong with the card just trying to offer suggestions.

Ah, you mean in case of a bad flash. Don't worry, i have a spare card, some old Nvidia that do the trick.
Now i've tried in crossfire with my 280x, with my 280x as the first card.
Surprisingly, drivers installed correctly and both cards were recognised..
But the 7970 want to troll me hard, infact, after a reboot, the second one was there yes, but shows 0mhz in clock speed. I've tried to enable crossfire and the system crashed.
Then i changed the bios again, based on the one i'm using now but with much lower clock speed, 900mhz instead of 925 and 500mhz on memory. It posts, it boots but crashed again during drivers..

God this card hates me... Soldering new memory chips seems the only way out here mad.gif

Could you see if the 7970 works on a linux bootable usb and see if you can run a simple stress on the card in linux? I know it sounds strange but that might prove if the card is really dead or not.

Ok, i've installed ubuntu once straight on a usb stick. I'm also getting some trouble installing 8.1 on another driver (damnd "i can't install on this drive" or something error message) so i'm stick with win 10 where i do all my test.

Does ubuntu require some drivers in order to do a stress test? What stress test should i use? How? redface.gif

Unfortunately i don't know much about ubuntu and its sw so i might need some guidance here.

As far as I know, OpenGL on Ubuntu should just work from the bootable USB. (At least they have done on my machine in the past)
EDIT: Heres a quick guide: Find a 4gb+ usb, grab a tool called "Rufus" and then grab the latest Ubuntu image(http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop), use rufus to put the image onto the usb (Will format the usb stick) and then boot into the USB at startup.

Ok, i'm downloading all i need now. One thing tho, do i need those video driver or i can do the stress thest without them?
Moreover, is it better to install or using a live version?

Well stressing should just work but by some small chance it doesn't then you can go to the "Additional Drivers" within Ubuntu that will find/download/install the latest AMD driver (But this might just end up doing what the drivers in windows do so be warned)

Ok, some update. I've installed ubuntu and i've tried heaven benchmarks without drivers, don't works.
I've tried a sw called "GpuTest_Linux" and it shows some triangle in a window but without GPU-Z i can't tell if it's the CPU or GPU that works. The only thing i know is that the CPU was almost flat out, but it's a C2D E8300, it will bottleneck a 7970 in every way possible.
After that i was trying to install the AMD drivers but, maybe i'm dumb, but i can't, i double click and nothing, i really don't know nor undertand how to install them, moreover, i'm without internet down in the basement wheee.gif
