I'm calling BS on this. MSI wouldn't make a LIGHTNING card for a 480 and even if they did it wouldn't be using this supermassive cooler. The 480 is supposed to be a chip designed for value and the LIGHTNING cooler is pretty much the polar opposite.
There are ACX 960s as well. LIGHTNING doesnt have to stay exclusive to 500+ cards

Also, it could be that polaris can overclock to pascal clock speeds. If it can (and MSI would know a lot better then us) then it would use a lot more power at full OC, and that cooler could manage it while staying silent and cold. I'd be interested in two of these things for crossfire if the above was true.

And of course, I am incredibly skeptical of those benches, but IF they are tru( a big IF) then imagine the power of one of these GPUs, with the full 2560 core count, at 1.7+ GHz core speed.

If it's better then a 390X. i'll sell off my 970 3.5gb card now and pick up a 480 8gb card. Since my plan is to keep this card for a long time and then pick up a vega for my gaming rig.

That's kind of to both of my points. :2coolsmil It is super-cheap, and the only way to explain anything to a company is with money. Decent price + decent performance = yes, exceptional price + exceptional performance = no thanks.

That guy from Chiphell said he will release a review of his MSI 4GB RX 480 at 12/06/2016 3AM PDT using Guidance Edition BIOS and drivers, which is around 6 hours from now. I have no idea what is a Guidance Edition drivers.

Here is the think $200 back in the day this was normal with stuff like 6600 GT, 7600 GT , 8800GT, HD 4850 etc. Now it seem getting a good card for this much seems like a bargain because how overpriced Nvidia has been.

More sincerely, I agree. We could use some consolidation.

Most of the other threads have devolved into arguing about trivial facts completely unrelated to the topic.

On topic: If temps are 70c at the supposive stock 1266mhz clocks I think Im going to wait for AIBs.

Well, I am not going to say no to "exceptional performance" as I am still looking for a single card for my primary rig that can drive a 4K monitor at a minimum 60 fps in most games, and won't go obsolete in three months just because the card maker decides to work with the developers to cook up some unnecessary performance crippling features... Lol and, I will pay a reasonable price for it, on a relative basis, but not an extortionist price ( I think you refer to it as "exceptional price", but I prefer my characterization better)... Lol

But, man, at $200, I would buy one just as a back up card, even if I didn't have a couple of secondary rigs to update.
@ zealotkiller, I think you are right, the PC gamers have been, what do you call it, oh yeah, "conditioned" to higher prices by Nvidia over the last few years.. Lol so, these cards at this price/performance would be a refreshing change...

If they released it in this flavor, I'd buy a second one just to hang on my wall.

I'm a mitx convert, so wouldn't be able to xfire it
