FX 6300 on 970A-UD3 issue

Hello, I am new here, but not in OC world smile.gif

So i got a problem during overclock my system, Ill try to explain now.

Specs:
FX 6300 (Arctic a30)
G. Skill 1600Mhz(red one modules)
GTX 970 (iChill)
Antec VPF650
970A-UD3 Gigabyte rev.1.1
SSD V300 Kingston
Seagate 3TB

Current configuration OC is:
FX 6300 x22.5 @4.5Ghz 1.33v (tested and stable)
G. Skill @1600 9-9-9-24 Default
GTX 970 stock-default clocks
970A-UD3 NB @2000Mhz(default) and HT @2600Mhz(default)

The problem starts when i bought a new GPU above, since then I cannot raise my NB, even on higher voltages, all ends long windows(win10 pro) booting, and when booting circle dissapear it shoud enter in welcome screen but in this case, have two situation when screen goes black or welcome screen freeze, but I am able to move with my mouse.

Funny is that before this gpu i had a R9 380, and everything works just fine, I run a NB on 2400Mhz +0.25mV so its just a 1.3v only.

If it is of any consolation, overclocking the NB brings virtually zero real life benefits in the FX, as far as i know. This isn't Phenom. You can google about it and find many confirmations.

As to why it does this now while before not, who knows. Gigabyte BIOSes are like beta programs, it's only a matter of time before you find a bug. I bought 2 Giga 970 UD3Ps and i keep discovering bugs years later. Plus, Gigabyte never bothers to fix a BIOS, she just releases a new board revision, with new bugs.

Gigabyte boards are very well built, but trying to reason with them is a hard effort...

Yes I got a point of what you saying. And I know, all issues are familiar to me. Just, I am very curious how It worsk before new GPU and why not after. It is very interesting to me and I like to know what causing it even if not able to fix it thumb.gif

Beside, how much I can push my CPU the motherboard can handle with temps?
