Need a new CPU i7 6700k or i7 6800k - Page 2

My advice to you would be, make sure your simulation tools are capable of multi threading "most of the time" before considering 6800k. I've once had a bizarre issue with a 20 thread Xeon in which this program I've been using for genetic algorithm computations seemed like running properly for a minute and then almost idling during the next 10 mins or so with only 6% of cpu utilization. What then turned out to be is a total waste of resources because that one operation wasn't able to use multiple threads which took the cpu 10 minutes to perform it with a single thread. If I recall correctly Matlab was unable to utilise multiple threads during some vector operations as well. I may be wrong or this might just be an issue of the past but keep in mind and don't underestimate the amount of single threaded operations in such simulation software.

Yea, matlab isnt good at using all threads, also Python and other apps i am going to use... so maybe the 6700k is the way to go !
