(scratch build) Chemical Plant - Page 4

Update- I am still working on cable management but without fabricating another part I have it as best as I can. Still a little disappointed but decided to continue going forward for now.

Did not get around to bending pipe today as I just ran out of energy. But I will leave you with the finished motherboard tray standoffs and gpu bracket

and a quick tease of my progress.

I bent the pipe today and I messed it up in every way that you can. But I kept at it and got it done, sort of. Realized I need one more 90 degree fitting or something to make one connection in a way I like and I need to rerun one pipe because I did not notice something until I was done.

Will have to make one more order and I am going to fabricate a piece to hide the cables while I wait on that order of more pipe, fitting and maybe some new leds for the res.

Bending the pipe turned out to way more difficult than expected but I learned a lot and hopefully next time it will go better.

For now I made all the connections so I can power it up and fully test everything. Tomorrow I will leak test and then run a test on all components. Will drain it and make the finial touches when the order comes in. So that means I am at least another week or so from completion. Sigh.

Here is what it looks like. Will post some with the fluid as soon as it is all working.

When I fix the piping and fab the piece I am hopeful that it will solve the issues and bring it all together. Seems that everything on this build has been 80 percent of what I wanted but that last 20 percent has really had me chasing my tail. Still, I will keep at it.

Cool idea!

I too have been doing a lot of brainstorming to build my own case, even though I just recently built a new rig, I wouldn't mind selling it if I can come up with something amazing that deserves a totally new build lol

Thanks Crimson. It took me a long time to figure out how to make this work and I am still learning. I say go for it.. Hope you find some inspiration and I look forward to seeing what you come up with. As you can see, I think way outside the box but I did it as a learning experience and I have learned a lot.

You already have a passion for some cases out there so build on that. For me it is open air/test benches. Not every bodies cup of tea but they sure are mine.

If this build has inspired you to build something, then that has made the whole thing worth it to me!

Problems- I was hoping to load an OS today and finish the build but I can not get it to post. I put a message in the Asus z170 thread but no reply as of yet. Hopefully I can get this solved without disassembling the build because that will really make me sad. Trying everything I know but nothing is working. Will report back if I every get it to boot.

double check power connections from power supply, preferably with a psu tester

check to make sure nothing is inadvertently grounded

try to post without video card, hdd, any other peripherals to narrow down the cause

I tried another psu but no luck. Taking off the gpu would mean dissembling the entire rig and I hope I am not to that stage yet.

No post and no case fans at first. Only the cpu fan would spin but I removed and reseated the battery and that got the case(rad) fans to spin consistently. I get no warning beeps and no warning leds. A qcode of 00. No other qcodes ever.

Tried methods-

1. 1 ram in all slots
2. different psu
3. plugging hdmi in gpu and motherboard for every test
4. tested hdmi cord as well and in put to monitor
5. every switch on motherboard to all setting but not in every test but most
6. Flashed updated bios 1801 and older 1702
7. cleared cmos

No luck other than getting the fans to spin. I really hope I do not have to tear the rig apart after just finally getting together. Any help other than tearing it apart will be appreciated but I will tear it apart if I have to. Sigh

Can not check grounding without tearing it apart

I think that code indicates CPU not present? Loosen the CPU block mounting nuts gently a little and see if it fires up. If not, I would remove the block and CPU and check the socket and pins.

Hmmm, okay, a quick google search led me to that conclusion. I wonder if the manual is outdated, but anyway, check this out and try loosening that waterblock.
