[videocardz] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 to feature 6GB 192-bit memory? - Page 9

I run at 1440p ( on dell u2711 monitors ) but also run Mini ITX .
At Au $750 or so the 1070 is not really worth it - even if it fits !
Which puts me right in the middle of 1060 / 480 territory .
My experience so far is that a R9-380 (4gig ) will game at 1440 but at modest settings - A GTX 970 ( 2gig) not so much .
I know that there are people on here that believe that gaming on "low end" hardware is akin to a crime but due to a Divorce and what have you my circumstances do not permit me to have the highest end , best hardware out there - so I have to do the best I can with what I can have .
I will wait and see what the reviews say , and what certain members on here say about them and choose what I am going to do - possibly one of each again .
All of the pre release hype seems to inflate the supposed performance beyond reality only to disappoint on arrival .
I was hoping that 1440 would be heading for normalcy by now - but it appears not to be the case .

I'm more excited to see how the 1060 / RX 480 duke it out when the 1060 released.
Dunno if I've ever cared more about a "mainstream" segment competition before but things are getting exciting - hopefully Nvidia hurries up with the 1060 and doesn't paper launch it like the 1070/1080

if 1070/1080 wasnt around then you wouldnt even have any upgrade options right now besides a "980/390X that uses less power" rolleyes.gif

In the same regard, if the RX 480/470/460 weren't around we wouldn't have anything less than $400 to spend on a worthwhile upgrade.
and a 1070 is hardly a worthwhile upgrade for the price for someone with a 980 Ti or similar, also no point in getting a 1080 when it'll get stomped when Vega is released for less redface.gif

if Vega is released (cough*only in 2017*cough) for less then 1080 can drop in price, and that assuming Vega can beat it

.. and then 1080Ti stomps Vega redface.gif

so no one is a hypocrite then. here's a thing - even if they do release vega and if it's faster than your lovely 1080 you will just avoid it and wait for 1080ti. so doesn't really matter if they release something faster and early. 7970 did nothing for them people just waited for 680 instead of buying 7970. but those same people never wait a day if nvidia releases something.

that's called hypocrisy wink.gif

ooor I get a 1080 now since its enough to run what I need it to run at the res I need it to run for a long while, and start using all that GPU power now and dont wait or care for Vega or Ti

wink.gif

Ive never bought a Ti card, dont think Id start now
