140mm Fan recommendation for 420 Rad - HWL-SR2

I'm using a Hardware Labs SR-2 420 rad for a new build.

The SR2 states that it's optimized for sub 800 rpm fans.

It's not clear to me if that means low static pressure fans or not.

I haven't found much information on low RPM, low static pressure fans.

There is a lot of information out there on "cooling" performance and air flow performance of 140mm fans, but very little on 140mm fans used with rads.

I'm likely to add another rad before I'd use high noise fans. So Noctua 2000 rpm fans aren't in consideration.

The new Noiseblocker fans look interesting, as do Vardar, Noctua regular PWM. I'd really prefer a white fan, as it's a white build. Otherwise I'll have to paint them.

Any real word experience recommendations?

Thanks!

When it states that the SR2 is optimized for lower rpm, it simply means that there is as minimal as possible performance loss at lower rpm. This does not negate the need for static pressure, or mean that a lower pressure fan is preferable.

Your best bets in terms of 140mm fans will still be eLoops, Vardars and Phanteks F140MP.

It looks like I'll give the Phanteks a shot. Thanks!

If you want to go "cheaper" the XSPC Xinruilian 140mm fans do the job also, but don't expect the same performance as those fans listed by ciarlatano

Nothing about water cooling is cheap smile.gif

I'll be happy if I can keep my build mistakes to "cheaper" mistakes. As long as I don't mess up my motherboard/ram/cpu/gpu, I think I should consider this first "beefy" build a success.

I'm shamelessly imitating a fellow overclocker's awesome build. That helps.

You should be very happy with them. Excellent fans overall, and are pretty much unbeatable for the price. thumb.gif
