it seems more like nvidia is having serious supply issues with the 1080, and perhaps even the 1070.

The closest thing to "proof " we would have would be the number of user reviews, and a close look at newegg shows that the sub 650 cards have more reviews then the 650+ cards. So, if intentionally strangling the supply of 600 cards is their plan, they are doing a very poor job of it.

And that's the beauty of it. It's impossible to prove, yet at the same time NVidia and their AIB partners can just throw a couple of cards into the supply chain to pacify the general enthusiast community. "Ooops... You weren't able to get one because you don't live behind your computer hitting F5 24/7? that's too bad. Well, you could always wait for this SKU to come back into stock or you could purchase another one. This one has blinky lights! Oooohhhh... Blinky!"

"Several billion dollars in RnD" as Jen Hsun said takes a lot to recoup.

As for the number of reviews being in the favor of sub 650 cards, wouldn't you try and buy a cheaper card if you had the initial chance? From here on in if that stays the same, and they bring more 499 - 599 cards into the supply chain, i'll be shocked. That would mean that the defect levels on a new processing node with a somewhat large die is going very well. It's not impossible, just somewhat unlikely.

And where would that be? newegg has nothing, and amazon only has scalpers selling 1080s.

but again, that would only work if the FEs were actually available to purchase, which they are not.

Exactly, 499 vanilla cards and 599 FE cards are nowhere to be found. The only time they were in stock was during the first little bit. The remaining AIB cards will be sold at a premium over the 599 FE because of this. If there's no anchor to keep the pricing in check (Was supposed to be the vanilla and FE cards) then it's up to AIB partners what they want to price it at.

Fallout 4 only sold 11.7 million. TW3 is just under call of duty, which BO3 sold 23 million. CDPR said 40% of sales were on the PC, which comes to 8 million. Most big AAA games only sell 1-2 million on PC at the most, so for PC benchmarking, TW3 is far from a minority title, it may very well be the biggest majority title.

Of course they should benchmark the latest games, I never said they shouldn't.

Please don't post false numbers the Witcher 3 has not sold 20 million copies, the franchise has in total.

Like I said the GTX 980 and 390X can play a majority of games at 1440p at good framerates ie 60fps. This is not a lie.

Thoughts?

It different from RX 480. I do not think its Polaris 10 because its has 320GB/s. With 384-Bit G5 or 256-bit G5X.
